Lively list so far, isn't it? ;-p Al ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From: Greg Subject: Reply to ModelerAl Al, I would love to here more about your USS Ohio. Anything Naval, Liners, Tugs, Freighters, Boats, Dinghy's or Canoes etc... Its welcome for discussion here. I am interested in what gave you the impression you couldn't talk about that though, Is it because the last point on the welcome message said "and remember, ships only" I thought at the time it might have that effect, It was purely meant to reinforce in people's mind that it's not a Star-Trek, Cars, Trains, Aircraft (Although Naval Aircraft would be Acceptable) or Tanks and Land Warfare list., I apoligise to you and all subscribers for any confusion this may have caused! Greg P.S. Its Gonna float any minute now Al ;-p ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From: BatlWagon@aol.com Subject: Submarine Models Hi all! I have been building model ships, currently working on a 1/700 Hornet and a 1/350 Fletcher. I have recently been bitten by the "sub bug" though. Does anyone on this list build them? Right now I am working on Tom's Modelworks 1/350 Gato. It is an OK kit, as far as multimedia goes, but some of the hull detail leaves a bit to be desired. For example, the inset area for retracting the forward diving planes is not inset, nor is it the correct shape. Also, the anchor is formed into the hull, but on the wrong side! Another project I am working on is a backdate of the Revell Lionfish kit. I am making it into the original Gato, SS212. I am working on making some Photo-etched limber holes, so that I may open that area up, (my first attempt at home-made photoetched parts!). Also, I am scratchbuilding the conning tower, to reflect the as-launched configuration. If any of you have issues #83 and 84, from the 1993 Model Ship Builder Magazine, that is where I got my info for this conversion. Anyway, that is where I am in my model building. I would look forward to hearing from other sub modelers, and anyone interested in WWII destroyers. Semper Fi! Hi all, How about we all chime in on this question..... I'm just finishing a conversion of a WWII era destoryer to a DMS in the 50's. I've just started a Type IX Uboat and I am stalled on the BB New Jersey 1980's era. All ships in 1/350 Mark ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: "Terry Sumner" Subject: 1/350 decals? Hi all, Do any of you guys know if anyone makes any additional decals for the planes? They seem kinda bare to me with just a wing marking. I would think that if they can make a star/bar for the wing, someone could make some insignia for the vertical stabilizers at least. Anything out there? Terry, Loren Perry's Gold Medal Models do a reasonably good set of Aircraft Markings and Insignia's - There are a few minor errors, I think the EA-6B's are the wrong squadron for the particular airwing depicted, The LowViz set is quiet good, The HighViz set In my opinion is outstanding. Loren can be reached at goldmedl@rockisland.com And his catalogue is via NAVIS Magazine online at http://navismagazine.com/pe/gmm.htm Hope this helps, Greg ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) From: Greg Subject: Re: What are you building at the moment?
