Bronov" Subject: Re: Tamyia colors >> I'm using Tamiya's Hull Red for the bottom, but what about the rest of the ship? >snip< I found the Tamiya colors where over all to dark, straight out Hull Red is more suited to IJN vessels, You might want to ad some normal red to it to brighten it up some, also I found 2or3 parts white to 1 part Light grey (Tamiya colors) gave me that "Light blue in direct light - dark grey in darker light << I've been using Floquil and Gunze Sangyo for my 'modern' ships. Gunze's Shine Red (I don't recall the number) works as a pretty good color below the w/l, as does Floquil's Antifouling Red. Floquil also produces grays that fit the bill nicely. All colors are FS or A/N matched, so I assume they're pretty close to the real thing. If you can't find them locally, Model Expo carries the whole line of modern and historic colors.
