I can only recall one kit of her in (I think) 1/400 scale. Anyone built a United States? Comments, suggestions, ideas? mark ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From: Greg Subject: Re: SS United States Hey Mark, The Kit you are refering to "I THINK" is made by Revell? I have seen it about a bit, and it comes out quiet well at the end. Let me know if anything develops for you, I would be interested in finding out a bit more about the kit for future referance too! BTW - Where is she? Greg P.S. Did you "snap" Her? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From: "Max Loosli" Subject: R.A. Burt's British Battleships of WW1 Hello Well done for running the list, I'm finding it very interesting and the discussions are very helpful. I was wondering if any of the subscribers could point towards a copy of R A Burt's Brittish Battleships of WW1 (I think)? I understand its very hard to find, and expensive if you do, but I think I want/need a copy! Any one got a pointer? I'm UK based if that's relevant. Here's hoping ...... I Just got back from visiting my parents, about 60 miles away, and stopped at the local hobby shop while there. I picked up "Building and Detailing Scale Model Ships", by Mike Ashey. This is the book I have been waiting for! What a lot of good information. There is a color section in the middle, and there are 2 pages of photos of the Revell 1/426 scale Arizona. Unfortunately, the hobby shop did not have a kit on hand. I will check with my local shop this week, but if they are out of it, who would have one, and the GMM set for it? I would really like to do an Arizona. Also, can any of you experts direct me to some available reference books on her? BTW, the hobby shop near my Mom's had the Tom's Model Works, 1/350 Arizona! What a kit! They even had the p.e. sheet available seperately. Anyway, thanks for your help! Rick ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: Greg Subject: Re: Arizona Hi Rick, You are in the Right place for Arizona - at last count, there's about 6 being built here at the moment! (Including one at my house) And they are all at different stages of completion, so there's a lot happening, and Loren Perry from GMM is hanging around to waiting for some questions. I Suppose Pacific Front would be the best bet, they seem to have everything lately, failing that, anybody got any suggestions? And as far as reference, I am told Robert Sumerall's "Battleship Arizona" is the bible for builders, Its available through The Floating Drydock, Pacific Front and amazon.com. I am waiting on a copy myself at this stage, so I will keep you posted. Thats about all I can offer you reference wise - the kit itself does appear really good, and try to resist the urge to fit those Neat GMM rails to soon! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From: Mitchell Subject: Back Issues Like Gene Larson, I too came late to this list. I'd appreciate it if you could send volumes 1 thru 8 so that I can complete my set. BTW, great list.
