Subject: SMML13/12/97VOL028 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- INDEX 1: New WEM releases 2: Heller vs. Revell Forrestal 3: HMS Prince of Wales 4: HEY - WHERE DID EVERYBODY GO??????? 5: HMS Prince of Wales ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) From: Dave Carter Subject: New WEM releases Well, it's looking a bit thin on the ground at the moment around here. For our own part, we have been extremely busy over the past few days, having released both the 1/700 HMS Bluebell and 1/700 HMS Invincible, as well as the next batch of 1/700 Scale aircraft. Time for a weekend break...off to the Historic Dockyard at Birkenhead to get a gander at the preserved Type VIIC U-Boat they've got up there (who wanted to know about drain-holes?), the O Class sub, and the Rothesay Class Falklands vet. HMS Plynouth.. There are some brief comments in Rajendra's review on Navis, but can anyone provide some further insight on this kit? The alternative is to find (!) an old Revell Forrestal -- I want the original configuration, not the updated kit. Price is in the same ballpark, I think. Comments? Boeke" Subject: HMS Prince of Wales I recently picked up a Revel Germany 1/720 HMS PoW kit, and I have started doing some research. I would like to model her as she looked after being trasfered to Malaya in 1941. I was wondering if anyone knows of any photos of her while she was being repaired her in the U.S. (after the Bismark engagement)? Pointer's to other references would be appreciated. 2nd part, does anyone have any pointers on this kit? It seems pretty bland (probably along the lines of the Graf Zeppelin in quality) are there any specific problems? Is there a specific photo-etch set for the PoW? I know of the "generic" RN sets, but I was wondering if there GMM or Eduard or anyone else might have a set? Thanks in advance, Joe ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From: McKellar Subject: HEY - WHERE DID EVERYBODY GO??????? No time for fun until after Christmas....... Mark ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: Greg Subject: HMS Prince of Wales Howdy, I have A Prince of Wales question as well, I was just looking at the box art on Tamiya's offering, and I didn't release she was completely wooden decked from Bow to Stern? Even the Forecastle/Anchor area? This is a new thing to me (Kind of a dark age, under a rock, Iowa class fan thing:-) Was this a common arrangement on all HMS Vessels? And I was also wondering what Tamiya got wrong on this kit? Dave and Caroline? Greg ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- End of Volume
