As I recall, they mostly faced forward, so it may have something to do with sailing into weather. Is this in fact true? << Yes and no. I understand it's about 1/350 scale. If so, we already have the upgraded 1/350 Merchant Ship set ($36.00 + $1 postage) which has more than enough railing and ladders for the Savannah. We also have just released an all-new 1/450 scale Merchant Ship set (also $36.00 + $1 postage) which will work on Glencoe's S.S. United States as well as the France & Norway kits, plus Otaki's Queen Elizabeth 2. By-the-way, I've found some reference photos of her and have discovered some major work needs to be done to the superstructure - Scalpel...... If I ever get the 1/200 Yamato, I'll have to break out the Binks spray gun and the resperator... Got the new Squadron Mail Order supplement and they have 1/700 full hull kits by Hasegawa listed. Since I don't like waterline kits, these caught my attention. There are 4 kits listed, and they are all IJN battleships of the Kongo class. Each of the 4 kits has a different description...Squadron uses terms like "special edition" and "high grade" for a couple of them. They also talk about "metal & photo-etch detail parts" and "wood display stands". The really odd part is the pricing...the Hiei is $35, while the Kongo is $30 and the other 2 are $25 each. I wonder why the price spread between 4 sister ships? Anyway, the sale pricing is attractive, about the same as list for the waterline versions of the kits. I was wondering if anyone in the group knows anything about these models... Tim Newell ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- End of Volume
