This was a great propaganda piece for the Atoms For Peace program with a few good photos of the ship building and newly completed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From: BEN8800 Subject: Re: Big E >> All sponsons port and starboard should use railing style 2 (I questioned this, as there are no instructions for the port side, and the instruction sheet says style 1 for the sponson between #1 & #2 elevators) << Are you talking about the kit instructions or instructions with a photo etched set? Ben ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From: Greg Subject: Re: Big E Hi Ben, That would be the GMM P/E Instruction sheet - In the railings diagram it shows the ships starboard side - nowhere does it give indications as how to rail the port. Loren did tell me that all sponsons should use railing style #2, but even he was not sure of the 4x portside cleat decks. It also appears that there is an error on the instruction sheet, as it states railing style 1 on Elevator #1 sponson, according to Loren, this should be railing style 2. Greg ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From: Stefan Smets Subject: USS Ticonderoga I just noticed a Revell 1/700 USS Ticonderoga in a hobbyshop. There's also the Minicraft Ticonderoga in 1/700. Anybody any idea which one I should buy (I don't mind the price, they are not expensive anyway) ? I can't compare them because the Revell box is sealed .. Thanks, Stefan. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: "Max Loosli" Subject: Russian and Polish Naval Books Dear All, I have recently bought some Naval Historical literature in Russian and Polish, the sort of thing we've all seen, histories, plans, etc. I was wondering if anyone has used any of the OCR software that claims to be able to translate into English? I am thinking of investing in some (LexiScan), has anyone done this before or had experiences (good, bad or indifferent) that they would like to share, before I take the plunge ? Best regards, Max Loosli ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- End of Volume
