I would say to Bill Gerlach that $45 is about $5-$10 less than the normal "on sale" price for this kit...go for it! << Al Trendle, the fellow Tim referrs to in the above post is the owner of Academy/Minicraft, not an employee. He is, as far as I know, the only injection molded kit manufacturer that is a regular participant of rec.models.scale. Mike Settle Our problems are mostly behind us. (Anon.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ From: Mike Settle Subject: Re: Floquil paints >> Hello people, I was reading an article about the model of the USS Arizona made by Loren Perry, & it mentions Floquil model railroad paints, he uses them to paint the deck the correct colors (actually stain), the colors are: 1. "Mud" (a model railroad weathering paint) 2. "Driftwood" (a light gray stain) 3. "Walnut" (a brown stain.)....... I rang my local hobbyist store & they said that they dont stock it, nor can they obtain any, because the suppliers cannot get it, I was wondering where can I get some, & if I cant, what would be a good substitute.... anybody help?? << A friend of mine owns a hobby shop and does a large mail order business. He will ship international orders. He stocks the Floquil railroad paints and can also get the Floquil line of marine colors. Ordering is easy, as he takes credit cards and has a toll free ordering line. Contact Direct Hobby at 1-800-948-8072 for orders or 1-919-937-1014 for inquiries only. He can also supply plastic ship models, no resin, although the main part of his mail order business is model cars. And he does discount off retail prices. Isn't it nice to have reps like that on our forums? Use paper clips to make the lifenet frames around the ramps on the bow (sorry, I don't know the proper term), & various places around the flight deck. Add some fine netting. I used the material from a Halloween costume (the wing of a bee). You could probably find this at a yardage store or crafts store. I used this technique on my New Jersey also. BTW, for anyone who wants to hang the ship's call sign from the halyard, it is NTAW. It goes on the outer of four halyards on the port side.
