I'm wondering if anyone knows where to find models of soviet naval vessels, preferably in the 1/350 scale. If anyone knows please contact me at: tomcat@algonet.se Cheers Fredrik ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From: "noelray" Subject: Heller 1:440 scale "Atlantic Star" paddle steamer Does anyone have some historical information on the Heller 1:440 scale "Atlantic Star" paddle steamer? However, I would like to model some IJN DD's in 1/350 sometime. I am aware that there are a couple of resin kits of Kagero class DD's in 1/350, but what I would really like to see in that scale is a Fubuki class DD, preferably injection molded, like the Tamiya Fletcher. In my ultimate fantasy, perhaps a series of kits to cover the three groups of this class as built, as reconstructed in the 30's and as modified during the war; or perhaps aftermarket parts to use in conversions. I am aware that a resin manufacturer announced some 1/350 Fubukis, but I do not know if they have ever been released. just my two cents worth! Paolo is absolutely right, if you want to make this (j.c.s) kit accurate you will have some work to do! I would definitely recommend the Skywave US Navy Aircraft set (2 if you want to have a busy deck) as the ones in the kit (which I have) are worse than useless. As usual, wings are not folded so it's a cut 'n paste job, but at least the Skywave aircraft are worth the effort. They come with basic stencilling and hi-viz markings for CVN 68/69 and some CVN 65 circa 1978 (not much use to you unfortunately) GMM and Flagship do detail sets for these kits, I've only used GMM's (a bit chunky) << I would like to know other fellow modeler's opinions toward 1/720 USS Aircraft Carrier from Revell or Italieri. As I am only stick to the scale 1/700. I am waiting for a true 1/700 scale Aircraft Carrier which may be produced in the future. However, will you put a 1/720 Carrier with a 1/700 destroyer or frigate. If a 1/700 resin kits is available, will you buy it with a price which may be 10 to 20 times more than the Revell or Italieri kits? Or you prefer to forget the 3% difference in the scale? It was just smaller than the LST. The main reason it has to be specifically an LSM is that I was aboard one during WWII, and just want a model for sentimental reasons (and to show my grandsons) Thanks for your interest and offer to help, I do appreciate it!. Paul Rathjen. PS. Is the Naval Base a model company, and do they have a web site; maybe they also have an LSM. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From: Ronnie Hiatt Subject: USS Oklahoma City & USS Durham LKA-114 Hi all! Looking for two kits/or information of....USS Oklahoma City (heavy cruiser) and USS Durham LKA-114 (troop transport) or any kit of a similar type of ship as these that I can use to create these two ships. Thanks for any information RH ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Mike Settle Subject: 20-B Deck Blue >> Having done extensive research on USN and RN colors, I can assure you that most of the naval colors currently on the market are suspect, some are downright awful. I'm not a paint fanatic, but coming close to a color isn't too much to ask from a manufacturer...anyway... A while back Jon Warneke and I made public a list of FREE commercial paint color chips that match the Munsell codes for USN and RN paints. While these paint chips are for house paints, the chips themselves match the colors, giving you a good starting point for mixing and matching non-marine colors for use on ships. (Please do not send us e-mail asking how to use house paint on your models) This list can be sent via E-mail, and should be available on the Warship site real soon in the Colors and Camouflage Section. << Jeff, Please e-mail me a copy of the list.
