POLL ============================================================================ MODELLERS ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) From: ALROSS2 Subject: USN paint chips First, thanks for producing the two colour references; they have been needed for many years. I just printed the USN set and found that you had changed the format for the RN set - the DB colour names were not listed, but printed on the chip. The names don't print well and are almost unreadable. Do you plan to list them as you did for the RN colours? Al Ross ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From: Hank_Lapa@signalcorp.com Subject: Re: Lindberg BISMARCK All, I have a contact who really, really wants to find this kit in its *motorized* version. I have already provided him my own original-issue motorized HOOD. He is simply interested in reliving his childhood model building/sailing. Since he already has the current, non-motorized issue of this BISMARCK, if anyone simply has the motorizing bits (linkages, motor, gearbox, etc), I'm sure he'd like to acquire them from you, but would take the whole kit if available. Pls contact me directly if you can help, or see his ad in latest PSM, which neglected to state that his need is for the motorized version only. Regards, Hank ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From: "Alan Simon" Subject: Lindberg Blue Devil Destroyer, 1/125 Reply to David Lombard and Ronnie Hiatt. Of course, Blue Devil is a far cry >from a scale Fletcher Class; however, I've enjoyed over two years of mini-projects. As examples, have re-built funnels, foremast, Mk. 15 torpedo mount, 5" director (Remington electric shaver foil makes great fire control radar), converted to one rudder and added scratch-built anchor, 5" practice loader and smoke generators. Sure the hull is atrocious, the 5" turrets rotate on the wrong axis and the bulkhead detail is Lindberg's typical random generic molding, but I think she's a beauty, anyway! HR Products sells 1/125 cast metal twin 40mm Bofors and single 20mm Oerlikons (available direct on the www or through The Floating Drydock. Civilian personnel by Merten and others in 1/120 (Model R/R TT Scale) are available, possibly through Walthers - just repaint. If anybody reads French, contact me for additional helpful info. Have three questions for Blue Devil and/or Fletcher Class enthusiasts. My ship will be USS Johnston (DD 557), "GQ Johnny" of Battle off Samar fame. 1. What camouflage scheme did she wear at Samar (10/25/44)? Only photos available show Measure 21 (verticals all Navy Blue) at commisioning, 10/43. Previous inquiries, including to Navismagazine and an attempt to contact survivors, proved inconclusive. 2. Research indicates secondary armament at Samar was 5-twin 40mm and 7 single 20mm. Can anyone confirm? 3. Any suggestions for scale propellers? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From: SantMin Subject: Re: decals >> Somebody out there had some success making decals with a color laser printer. What type of printer was that again? I accidentally erased the issue! << I don't know if you are talking about me, I did put up a message about printing color decals, but I do not use a laser printer. I use and ALPS MD-1000 which is a dry process film printer. I just got a copy of the kit for $3, and I'm not even sure all the pieces are there! TIA!! Ken Durling ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From: Bruce Ross-QBR000 Subject: Plans for the Disco Volante Hi, In the 007 movie "Thunderball" of the 60's the prime bad guy had a beautiful yacht that seperated to give him a fast getaway, well I've always loved the looks of that yacht. Question, does anyone have any ideas on where a set of plans suitable for build a model could be had? Any and all leads will be appreciated. POLL We have been approached by an SMML subscriber re. producing the following aircraft in 1/400 SCale. S2 Tracker, E1-Tracer aircraft, A3D Skywarrior, A1 Skyraider aircraft, We have decided to ask this newsgroup what aircraft they would like to see produced in resin... bear in mind that there would be probably 2 or 3 in a bag, and the retail would be around £6.00. If we get enough response it would make this fellow extremely happy! Would you want photoetched brass detail sets, as in our 1/350 range, with each aircraft having its own set, or would a more basic set up be preferable? (Etched brass requires a high set up initially for photoetch but low run-on cost for the brass). We have to consider the cost of a master, the cost of etched brass design, cost of production etc on an issue like this, and would appreciate knowing what people would like to see, and how many they would be prepared to buy..we would look to break even on such an investment. Thank you for your time.. Please mail to:xdt22@dial.pipex.com Regards, CJC WEM (P.S. Looks like the 1/700 Aquitania MAY happen!) http://dspace.dial.pipex.com/town/avenue/xdt22/ ============================================================================ End of Volume
