FDrydock sells plans for CV-6 w/hullsections, but not for Hornet. Would one work for the other? In other words, what is the relationship between them as to hull configuration? My limited understanding of "class" is that it has more to do with overall dimension and tonnage? So that Yorktown, Enterprise and Hornet didn't necessarily have identical hulls? Or did they? Also in various classes is there a differing degree of unity of design? Sketches in "US Aircraft Carriers in Action" suggest that 6 and 8 were more similar to each other than than they were to 5. Of course I realize that above the main deck the divergences are radical. But the hull, the hull... I have built the Blue Water Navy 1/350 resin kit. It is much more expensive than any injected kit would ever be but the finished result is worth it. The detail (there are over 1200 parts) included in this kit makes the finished model a stunning piece even from an intermediate modeller like myself. If anyone has any questions about this kit please e-mail me at wfulp@aol.com. Thanks! While I mainly build 1/144 scale aircraft, I have on occasion built some ship models. I am currently working on the Airfix 1/600 Bismark. I have ordered the GMM photoetch set and would like to ask if anybody can offer any suggestions about its use on this kit. My plans are to finish this model in its camo. scheme as she (he?) appeared before the breakout . Anybody got a spare kit they'd be willing to sell me? Looks like it is out of production at the moment. Mike ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: jim burt Subject: Queen Mary Greg, Does anyone have a model of the Queen Mary? Or, does anyone know what manufacturer produces a detailed kit of it? Are Modelcraft kits detailed? We try as much as possible to pass these requests on to the various manufacturers such as Pitroad, White Ensign, Classic Warships, WSW, etc. << I have already sent my 'wants' list to WEM. But here it is for other manufacturers to (hopefully) take up: WWII 1:700 scale subjects: * Victory Ship * C2 freighter * T2 tanker * 'Empire' ship * MAC ship * Oceans, Forts & Parks Class freighter * Tanker Ohio * RN Ranger Class oiler * Aquitania (possibly being done by WEM) Perhaps what is needed is some kind of survey conducted via this list. Anyone interested in collating requests? Once manaufacturers see that there is a ready market for a particular subject it gives them encouragement to produce it.
