Anyone know of any plans for them? I have them in 1/1250 and would like to so some work on them. Also, has anyone seen a book called "Las Fuerzas Navales en el Guerra Civil Espanola" by Nassaes? I've seen a listing for the book (published in the 70's, I think) but I've never seen it. Also, I'd really like to see a 1/700 model of one of the French light cruisers of the La Galissonniere class, some of the best (and best looking) light cruisers ever built. Regards, Art Nicholson ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From: "Linsay Perry" Subject: Marine assault ships Anyone out there know if there are any large scale (1/350) of the USS Kersage or the Tarawa? Also does any one know the contents of GMM Pe sets for the KGV 1/350 tamiya? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From: SHIP MDLR Subject: USN LST in 1/72 scale Ray, I recently recived a new price list from Combat Models. They show a USN LCI Landing Craft (kit no. 72-600) in 1/72 scale. They also show a USN LST in 1/72 scale. Hope this helps. For larger model parts (hull etc.) I like to use Humbrol's glue in a jar with a brush (like painting with glue). This is so I can get a good secure fit and minimal trace of joints on the main parts of the model. The only problem is that when using this glue, on or around a painted surface, the paint seems to shrink (crumble)! By first assembling the major parts of the model and then painting it this wouldn't happen. (Don't misunderstand: I don't paint the whole model with glue! :-) ) 2) I read the 1/350 Tamiya USS Fletcher article by Paolo Pizzi on Navis and in his words: "I usually complete the basic construction before getting to the paint phase". This seems logical to me and IMHO you can't get no basic than the hull and decks. 3) I have no experience with resin kits (yet!), but from the pictures I've seen they seem to come in more or less in one piece (hull + decks + superstructure = 1). If people can do it with resin, why can't I do it will plastic? I must add in closing that I haven't tried this technique before and I realize it demands a great deal of masking. In the past I've always worked on sections of the model independently of one another, but then having trouble (hiding joints etc.) when assembling the individual parts to a whole. Hope this makes sense to someone (!!!) Best regards Lee Francis Wilhelmsen ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: David Hathaway Subject: Re: Paper Ship Models To add to the paper ship model discussion - have a look at the following URL. It is a page on Marcle Model's site and is advertising what must be the ultimate ship model. http://www.bogo.co.uk/marcle/sd14.htm It is a cardboard model of an SD14 general cargo ship and you basically put it together as you would a real ship with a piece of cardboard for every steel plate in the ship. It is in 1:70 scale, has 4,500 pieces and makes up to over 7 feet in length. Awesome. So is the price.
