You can get sets of pinnaces (3 rowed, 3 sailed), cutters (3 rowed, 3 sailed), launches (3 rowed, 3 sailed), mixed boats (6 sailed) or open boats (8) for £1.10 a set. The models are generally nicely detailed (for the scale). In case it is useful, their address is: Langton Miniatures North Trendeal, Ladock, Truro Cornwall TR2 4QQ United Kingdom Tel/fax is 01726 882805 Nowfel Leulliot ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From: Paolo Pizzi Subject: Konishi 1/200 >> I saw some nice looking 1/200 JMSDF vessels. The pictures said the were from a Konishi Ltd. I tried to find any information about the company or the models but didn't find anything at all. Are they the same ships that Nichimo has made? Or is it a new company name? were can I find them and how much do they cost? Would appreciate any help on this subject. << No, nothing to do with Nichimo, those are resin kits. Konishi has been in business for a while producing 1:1200 and 1/72 (aircraft) metal casts and multimedia kits in 1/500, 1/350, 1/300, 1/200 and 1/20 (aircraft.) They have a good range of products, mostly Japanese subjects. They're generally very nice kits, although for the price you pay you may expect a little more. The 1/200 kit in Japan cost something like $3,000, I'm not kidding... Are you working 1:1 or do you draw oversize and have it photo-reduced?? What is this dry etch process? Where can I find a description of the procedure?? Dear Fellowship Modelers, I recently was able to acquire the Heller 1/400 scale Prinz Eugen. As many of you might know, sadly the Prinz Eugen was used as a nuclear test subject in 1946. I have often wondered that if World War II had gone another year would the US Navy have used the Prinz Eugen as a ship in the battle in the Pacific. The reason that I ask this is that I am toying around with the idea of making up the Prinz Eugen in late 1945 US Navy colors. Does anybody have a crystal ball on what the Prinz Eugen might have looked like both in how she would be painted and how she would be reequipped, i.e. guns, radar, etc, etc. pwesty@ida.net ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) From: John VCP Subject: Re: 1/1200 Ship's "Boats" As I said in an earlier msg - drop me a snailmail address and I'll send you a listing of collectors/dealers/manufaturers/etc. I have several 1:1200 scale ship's boats cast in metal in which you might be interested. John (john vcp@aol.com) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8) From: b29@ix.netcom.com Subject: 1:1200 scale Konishi In response to Mr. Tholander, Konishi makes models in metal. The ships he is referring to may be 1:1200 scale, because Konishi does make some JSDF ships in that scale. However, Konishi also makes kits in brass in larger scales, so 1:200 cannot be ruled out. Contact Bill Gruner at Pacific Front Hobbies for more info on Konishi. Two which are now ready for painting are a Type 15 and Type 16 AS frigate conversions. Does anyone have any details of deck colourings for these ships at that time or point me to any refernce material which might help. Next in line is a 1/600 scale Rothesay class frigate converted from the Airfix Leander but I remember actually walking round one of those on a Navy day years back so I think I can deal with that one. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks Terry Howlett ============================================================================ TRADERS & ANNOUNCEMENTS ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) From: John Knoepfle Subject: List format request Greg, This is a formatting request/suggestion. I use a mail reader that has a burst command to explode your list into individual email messages. This makes it very easy to reply with an appropriate subject field and it makes it easier for me to read. The only problem I'm having is that it can't determine the last message because you use a "==========..." string to delimit the last message and end of volume instead of the "-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------" delimiter that you use between messages. Any chance of you sticking your normal inter-message delimiter at the end of the last message? Something like this after the last message... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ============================================================================ End of Volume
