Willstop in Mobil to se the ALABAMA in Oct. if anyone wants any thing checked on her. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From: PulligS Subject: Photos Lots of questions lately about photos. Has any one had any luck ordering photos like Dr. Freidman has in his books, ecspecialy ones about conversions and yard periods? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From: KDur597268 Subject: Re: USS SAN FRANCISCO >> Re; USS SAN FRANCISCO reference, I would recommend trying to get a copy of USS San Francisco by Chuck Hansen (1981). This softcover book, unfortunately long out of print, is the best reference for this ship that I know of. It contains photos, many full page, of details as well as overall views, scale drawings, everything needed for a modelers reference. Try a search on the net for out of print book lists, or advertise for a copy. It is well worth getting. << I saw a copy of this book in a specialty shop near me recently. If the person interested would like to e-mail me, I could acquire it for him. It was expensive though, I think $45. I could be wrong about that. I'll call him during his rather odd business hours and confirm and repost here.. Ken Durling ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From: KDur597268 Subject: New Russian "DD" kit I just picked up a copy of the new(?) Dragon 1/700 "Russian Sovremenny Class Destroyer" kit, simply because it is such a cool looking ship! I know nothing about Modern Russian Navy, let alone specific ships. Man, this sucker is BIG! Must be close to the size of a WW2 CL. The instructions say absolutely nothing about the ship, no length, displacement, armament, nothing. Just that two ships are opted - 715 "Bystry"; and 434 "Besstrashny". It looks at first glance like a really nice kit, very finely done. Can anybody fill me in about this class? Are there any photo refs? Color? Thanks in advance Ken Durling ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: KDur597268 Subject: Russian DD kit P.S. I just measured the kit, and the hull is 8 3/4" long. If my math is right, that means the real thing is a little over 510 feet long!
