As this is the best way of making something out of the 1/720 piece of plastic dung which is supposed to be the Prinz Eugen (another model Bill Gruner should consider in the new line of kits), I would like information/plans on how to make this conversion. Maybe somebody in SMML has actually done this conversion and would enlighten us as to how it's done. << I haven't, but my friend Michael Emmerich has. I'm sure he'd send you a copy of his plans. (he sent copies to me) Are you out there, Michael? ;-) Look on his web page, http://www.home.gc-system.de/emmerich/index.htm , or go directly to his Seydlitz model, http://www.home.gc-system.de/emmerich/smb.htm#sedylitz . How can I obtain an accurate photo of the ship at the time my father was aboard? It is important to me, he has recently suffered a stroke and I want to present him with an accurate representation of the ship in which he served. << You can obtain copies of DOD photos from the Defence Visual Information Center. I have ordered some recently and recieved excellent cooperation via e-mail. They sent me a customer guide and even e-mailed it as well. Be advised. They send their files in a mime format. My mail reader couldn't decode it so I had them send me the hard copies. They can also make your selection of photos easy by sending them to via e-mail thumbnail sketches! However, here is the penultimate u-boat site: http://uboat.net U-boat Net - The U-boat War 1939-1945 Marc and Christopher Biagini ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From: Mapweasel@aol.com Subject: USS SAGINAW This site has helped me before and I'm in need of help again. When I was but a wee lad, about 7 I'd imagine, my father came home from the Gator Base in VA Beach with a gift. It was a rather large fiberglass model of his ship, the USS Saginaw LST 1188. Apparantly, it was built as a training aid by an on base workshop and was about to be tossed in the trash when dad saved it. The ship was as long as I was so I guess it was about four feet in length. Various moves since then made my mother give it away to someone who would actually build it (it was in pieces at the time) and I lost a wonderful memento. I was wondering if anyone out there might have worked in this shop (this was around 81-82) or has one of these models that they would be willing to part with. Any info would be helpful. Thank you.
