Are there any manufacturers doing this? << Skywave has put out some aircraft in 1/700 scale that are cast in clear plastic. I'm not sure which ones they are I just remember reading a review on them. I believe Pacific front Hobbies has them in stock. Both were assigned to transport P-47s of the 7th Air Force to Saipan during Operation Forager. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From: ECammeron@aol.com Subject: CV-5 Conversion The most obivous difference between CV-5 and CV-6 is the Walk-around on the Yorktown's bridge level. See the pictures in Larry Sowinski's Action In The Pacific on pages 42 and 43 for Enterprise and Yorktown at Midway. Hornet, being built later, had many modifications due to lessons learned from operations of Yorktown and Enterprise. Also, the book 'That Gallant Ship' has some great pictures of Yorktown during her war career. I know someone who really wants one. 2) Does anyone know what the V stands for in CV or CVA or CVE or CVN? It's the same V in VF-1 or VMFA-333. It relates to ships or squadrons operating fixed wing aircraft. Cheers Mike Connelley -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: Jowfx@webtv.net (John Fox) Subject: CAP Garcia etc. Does anyone know how Corsiar Armada' s USS Garcia kit is. Does it come with PE? Does it include parts to model the FFG version? Also, does anyone make kits of a Coontz class DDG or a Newport class LST in 1/700? Finally, does anyone know if the USS Indianapolis had pedestal, tripod or quadripod(?) mounts for her twin 20mm's. I just bought WEM's twin 20mm and 1/700 Seasprite at a hobby show today. This is the first time I have seen their products in person and I have to say I am impressed. Thanks. I used a burnt sienna/black wash for the gun and around the metal anti-skid plates surrounding the gun, and it looks pretty good; but I don't think a mere drybrushing is going to cut it for the decking. Any help will be appreciated. Call Washington telephone information for the phone number. These are photos NH75372 through NH75410 - very nice views Photographs of the USS T-35 (DD-935) are also available from the Naval Historical Center. These are photos NH73329 though NH 73365. I've also heard of modern kits of the Iowa and NJ by a company called Nichimo. I Have never heard of this company before and I am wondering what these kits are like. They are said to be motorised which does not give me a good feeling. Also as Airfix have released the Canberra again I'd like to build this kit up as she was during the Falklands campaign, does anyone out there know of any good references for her appearance at that time. Thanks in advance Don Bridge -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- End of Volume
