It will be a trade paperback (size of a hardback, but paper) and is expected to sell for $18.95. It will probably sell for less than $14.00 for members of the Naval Institute. It will be available at local book stores, but may have to be ordered. It is the best book out on this battle. I know as I was there. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From: "Mike Dassele" Subject: Hornet hull lines Thanks to all who responded to my request for this information. It seems Bob Evans has exactly what we are looking for and we appreciate his generous offer to copy his plans for us. Isn't this forum terrific? Everybody is so helpful. Thanks again to all. Hi Mike I'm pretty new at this ship building stuff and I too was faced with creating water for my 1/700 Yugumo. After reading all I could get my hands on (there are some very good articles out there; try the FAQ) I settled on using Liquitex acrylic gels on a styrene base. They have a very informative web page at www.liquitex.com . I picked up some blues, greens, whites, and some of the textured gels and played. It's amazing how quickly you can put some realistic water down. Looking at photos helps a lot. This is the technique I, as a newbie, would recommend to get the best results relatively painlessly. Of course, your Big E will take a heck of a lot more gel than my little Yugumo. You might want to get the bulk gel and tinting colors. Be sure to experiment on scrap. I think you'll be pleased. If you would like more detail please email me off list. For crying out loud where does a bloody great steel thing fit in and I got to stay indoors to make it Glad I was brought up in the UK Chris Rogers Oz -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: "Keith Bender" Subject: Re: ICM Takao Good thought Mike Connelley. There has been so much talk about Hood and Essex that I forgot about the Takao class. May as well get that band wagon rolling. Hey ICM, whats up with Takao? We'd like that one too please. KTB -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From: "Richard Baker" Subject: Re: Ebay One thing I've noticed about sellers in the UK is they put what they want as a starting price (so not much of an auction). I always look on either white ensign's site or Hannant's if it's not on there then I'll bid. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) From: NEVENGER@aol.com Subject: Re: ICM ships (not HMS Hood or Essex class) Do not worry as I am waiting for the Japanese cruisers to show up as well. I just hope that they are not on the 5 year plan to make the kits. The Hood has been a very hard and long wait as well as the Essex. I even picked up the anotomy of a ship on the Takao for when the models one day appear from ICM.
