But after thinking about it I cannot remember if we made the approach on the Oiler or they did on us. Thought they did on us like a DD would. But anyway remember some good UNREPS with Neosho. We had some bad ones with Cacapon and Ashtabula a few of the real old one - crew would groan loudly when we could see their hull numbers coming up. Their pumps would always seem to break down and we would have to go on for hours and since we were "Day" carrier, we would UNREP at night. And that was in the days when you had to bolt the hoses to the pipe stands and kept a 410 shotgun line cutter in case of an emergency breakaway and you let the hose just tear away - nothing automatic in those days 69' to 71' Mike Donegan NAVYDAZE - Naval & Aviation Artist -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From: NAVYDAZE@aol.com Subject: Re: UNREP Leave it to our British and Canadian friends to come up with some funny stories about this subject - good job guys - laughed my ass off - The beer yes, the grape fruit no, our guys would probably come up with nuclear tipped watermelons Mike NAVYDAZE - Naval & Aviation Artist -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From: "DUCKMAN" Subject: P/E HI ALL, IS ANY P/E AVAILABLE FOR THE TRUMPETER 1/500 "NIMITZ" CLASS? THANX, DAVID IN DIXIE -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From: "william k code" Subject: Victorys 68lb cannonades Hello list, I've finally gotten to fitting out my Hellers Victorys main deck.. Ive got good photos of her 68lb cannonades. I've added all the ring bolts for her gun tackle but dont have any good pictures of one rigged.. Mckays Anotomy of the ships doesnt show it and neither does longrides The Anatomy of Nelsons Ships.. Since Im depicting her with guns rigged does anyone know where her recoil rope was fastened and her tackle to reset her friction carrage after firing?? regards Bill Code -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: GKingzett@aol.com Subject: AO 64 one more time Thanks, guys, for all the "Sea Stories." Two more questions. What would be typical speed during UNREP? And do I understand correctly, an UNREP could go on for up to 8 hours every two or three days?
