You will have to choose between single and double action; I started with a double action, (Paasche VL) and with some practice, can now control both air and paint. Sort of depends on how nimble you are with your fingers, and I assume most people in this group are fairly good, or they would have given up building models a long time ago! I would recommend that you go out and get a couple of cheap kits, throw them together and practice. You can then refine your technique on those to get thin, even coats without destroying something expensive or hand-made. Forget the little cans of air; either go for a compressor or a CO2 tank. I currently have a compressor with a long hose and moisture trap. I am seriously considering CO2. Two issues there are initial expense of the regulator for the tank (>$100) and convenience of resupply. My compressor is a 30 year-old Hausfield/McCormack diaphragm type. I seldom use the Paasche and you really don't want to know how I maintain the Binks... :-}. I don't have much experience with the current airbrushes, so can't really comment on them in a useful manner. Aztecs have been around for awhile and seem to get pretty good press. Paasche has been around for decades and definitely makes a nice unit. Maybe some of your modelling friends will let you try theirs...? The two latest books from Classic Warships are now available: WW2 German Schnellboote and USS New Jersey battleship. Both of these books are likely the finest work from this company thus far. << Can you please quote their ISBN numbers. My son in the States needs the ISBN identity so that he can order them for me. Thanks. A steal for $16! Highly recommended, should lay to rest some questions about WW2 carrier deck and deck-marking colors. But a couple of montsh ago it was taken off the catalogue & the web site.. Maybe the people @ White ensign models could shed some more light on who actually releases it & has it finished or has been delayed for some reason. Regards Andrew Oz -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) From: "Andrew Jones" Subject: India to get "new" carrier India will accquire a Russian aircraft carier & longe aircraft in a deal unveiled on Friday. They will lease 2 Tu-22m supersonic bombers & buy a refurbished aircraft carrier. The Aircraft accarier is the Admirla Gorshkov. The 2 countries have been discussing the carrier for more then 2 years. The technical discussions on the carrier have been completed & price negotiations are what need to be done. It is unsure when the carrier will be taken over. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8) From: "DUCKMAN" Subject: BACK 40 I THINK THAT IS WHAT THE RAMS DID QUITE A BIT OF LAST WEEK AGAINST THE PATS.
