Before or after her 1938-40 modernization? Pieter Cornelissen -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From: Dave Swindell Subject: Re Bow draft numbers Hi Franklyn Draft numbers are read at the bottom of the mark. Metric marks are painted 0.1m high and are painted every 0.2m, Usually with full metres denoted then the decimals only to the next full metre, eg 10M, 2, 4, 6, 8, 11M etc. Thus if the waterline is lapping along the bottom of the 10M mark, the draft is 10M, but if the mark is just covered, the draft is 10.1M. There is another 0.1m of blank space before the next mark at 10.2m. In dead flat water the draft can be gauged very accurately, but usually an estimate to the nearest 0.1m is good enough. If your draft marks are in feet and inches the principle will be the same, the intervals usually being at foot with a full mark eg 28FT and six inches with just a 6, both in 3 inch high characters. Stern and midship draft marks are the same. Thanks in advance, John -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From: "Charlie Blood" Subject: Tom's Modelworks Essex Hi all I was wondering if there is any possibility that someone might know where to get a Tom's Modelworks Essex. Longshot I'm sure but help locating one would be appreciated. And of course I'm willing to pay. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: AAA Hobby Subject: Re: Chinese Companies >> Banner is the label that this honest, trustworthy Communist Chinese company Trumpeter used to sell to Marco Polo to get more money! The whole Banner Arizona thing was a real back door deal. They would never break an agreement! Heck No! I for one completely trust the Communist Chinese, especially with my aircraft!. << The Trumpeter agreement was announced after 9/11 ... the reps were stranded at Newark airport that morning. As for more money, I never saw a price difference between the two. At Chicago, the kits were "listed" at a much higher price than they came out at. The Banner and Trumpeter kits both currently list for $29.98 at either MMD or Stevens. VLS has their Arizona's listed at a SRP of $34.95.
