Anyone know off the top of their head what the differences might have been? I know the fifties on some PT's had tubular muzzle brakes, such as were seen in some aerial applications. Any other differences? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From: "Rod Dauteuil" Subject: Scale rulers Yes. Rod -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From: John Sears Subject: Re: scale ruler The scale ruler would be a great tool. I've been working on the same index card w/ pencil marks for years! The overhead transparency is also a great idea. Can't wait. John -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From: "Russ Smith" Subject: Royal Oak's Decks Would any of the bridge decks or after structure of this battleship have had linoleum on them in Oct 1939? Is there a rule of thumb as to which decks are cover this way? Is there a source that would cover this information for various ships and navies? Any information would be appreciated. Russ Smith -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: JKrakow@aol.com Subject: Wheelhouse clocks Robert, Nice ideas but I won't build a working 1/72 scale clock. I said I was a sad git, not a really miserable one! (I believe Peter Hall owns that title, or so he told me.) Cheers Dave www.PrinzEugen.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From: Bradford Chaucer Subject: Re: A Man Of your Calibre >> This went well for a period of time, but when he left to take another position the project had to be abandoned because (you guessed it!) they couldn't find another man of his calibre. << Grooooooaaaaaaaannnnnnnnn Shane, this guy should be banned for at least 3 lifetimes Regards, Bradford Chaucer Hi Bradford, Well it could be worse, I could post some of the jokes that you send ;-þ Shane -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) From: "Ian Archer" Subject: 1/700 RN WW2 Destroyers I decided to start in 1/700 scale again. I went to 1/600 because I like RN subjects but I noticed there are a now lot of 1/700 resin and metal kits about. I would like a few suggestions for a good quality Second World War period destroyer kit, after market parts etc. Thanks Ian Hi Ian, I can recommend the WEM 1/700 HMS Kelly. It's a very nice kit with some conversion potential. I picked it up early last year and am now only waiting on Chris Langtree's book to covert her to an Aussie N Class (most likely Nizam, since I have the honour and pleasure of knowing her Captain) sometime in the future. This kit can purchased from White Ensign Models or their dealers around the world. Regards, Shane -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8) From: SHIPMDLR@aol.com Subject: Re: Scale rules >> A company called Murphey's Rule made 1/700 ans 1/350 rules in metal years ago but they have not been available for quite some time. << Yes, and I still have one I picked up at a swap meet. I wouldn't sell it for anything. I don't know what everyone else prefers, but I like etched metal for both scales if possible. Chris Preston, Victoria, B.C Canada -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10) From: Mark Cuevas Subject: Scale rulers >> A company called Murphey's Rule made 1/700 ans 1/350 rules in metal years ago but they have not been available for quite some time. ScaleCard makes a whole series of plastic rules but I don't think I've ever seen on in these scales. << ScaleCard does have 1/350 and 1/700 scale rulers. They have 2 types. The first is a 1/350 scale Card (credit card size) that measures length, diameters and also has measurements for average men women and children's heights. The second is a plastic ruler about 2 feet long. One edge is 1/96 scale and the other edge is half 1/350 and half 1/700. Both rulers are made out of clear flexible plastic. Both items are great and well worth the price (about $20.00 (US) for both. Mark -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11) From: "Michael J.
