The hull is quite good, the superstructure, especially the area around the compass plaform needs work. I'm using Evergreen plastic to patch up the top. The radar is missing, but It's simple to scratch build. The real problem is with the turrets. The tops of the turrets are too flat. How Heller got that one wrong when they did such a good job with the hull, I don't know. Over all, it can build into a decent, impressive-looking H.M.S. Hood. Chuck -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From: "Michael London" Subject: Scrieve boards Can anyone tell me what scrieve boards are? Richard Hough refers to them in his book "The Great Dreadnought" along with templates and profile drawings used in a shipyard's mould loft. I cannot find them in my dictionary nor does "The Oxford Companion to Ships and the Sea" have an entry. Michael London -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From: "Franz Aigner GmbH" Subject: 1:700 IJN Kaga correct URL Sorry about that, but here is the URL: go to: http://www.oshipy.com/users/omamie/e-gallery-kaga-top.htm Enjoy, Richard -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From: "Rick Schiller" Subject: Re: Kaga @ www.oshipy.com I found the link Richard (?) provided for the Kaga report not to work but found the following which seems to work and is in English. It really is a remarkable 1:700 job. Thank you http://www.oshipy.com/users/omami/e-gallery.htm Rick -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: "Jorgen & Ann" Subject: Scale Rules! Hi again, Just found the address: The Scale Card P O Box 1078 Highland, CA 92346-1078 909-864-4134 www.thescalecard.com They have six inche plastic rules in various scales; 1:64, 1:32, 1:24 at about $2.95 each. Jorgen -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From: URUDOFSKY@aol.com Subject: Chacabuco In Weyer's Taschenbuch der Kriegsflotten 1929 is a silhouette of the ship and in 1941/42 a line drawing, The main difference appears to be in funnels; the 1941 look shorter, fatter and less raked. There are also minor differences in the masts. Not much can be said about the bridge from the 1:2000 scale pictures. I could send scans on request. Ulrich Rudofsky -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TRADERS, ANNOUNCEMENTS & NOTICEBOARD -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) From: "Keith Butterley" Subject: The stupidity just continues Hi group, I have been slowly getting myself re-organized at my temporary "new" home and have now discovered that the same idiot who forgot to tell the movers not to pack the computer also forgot to tell them not to pack all the boxes marked "BOOKS". My total inventory consists of one S-Boote book (Dimi did you still want that?) and half a dozen of the new Flushdeck book from WR Press. I do believe that I am going to be on an extended business hiatus. Seeing as I do have "some" Flushdeck books, would somebody be interested in purchasing them? I need to finance a mountain climbing team or some cave explorers to try and dig out my stock from the storage locker. Or maybe this is just some form of divine intervention telling me to go back to my winged thingie roots and forget the floatie thingies. I can't win, I can't win, I JUST CAN'T WIN!!! insert demented suicidal laughter.
