The NVR information is not always up to date - specially when the ship is still technically in commission. Dave Shirlaw Editor, Seawaves Magazine www.seawaves.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From: "Glenn and Kelly Neklason" Subject: Re: USS Inchon/USS Oklahoma City (CLG-5) I don't believe that the USS Oklahoma City sank "quickly" as a result of Sinkex '99. It finally took a torpedo from a South Korean submarine to put her down. True, she sank in 25 minutes when the torpedo broke her back, but in the days leading up to the sinking, the tough old girl took everything the coalition threw at her and was still standing on the last day. Glenn -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From: "Ralph Batykefer" Subject: Inchon Model The only model I know of for the USS Inchon is the HiMold kit in 1/700. It is okay, but it is solid resin without a hanger bay. Otherwise a nice kit. I plan on making mine into a late version as a minesweeper control ship. IHS, Ralph -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From: John Snyder Subject: Re: WEM Colors Hi Gernot, You're going to get me in trouble, you know, having me spell "colors" American-style. Her Majesty's Royal Word Police will revoke my Brit-in-Training Certificate. The WEM Colourcoats are solvent-based enamels, of the same formulation as Hannants Xtracolors (hmmm, THEY spell it without a u), very similar to Humbrol. Based on Hannants' recommendations, we also recommend thinning with good quality white spirits. Now, in the past I have used lacquer thinner for thinning all my solvent-based paints (Testors, Floquil, Humbrol, etc.) for airbrushing. I haven't tried this yet with Colourcoats (heck, who has time for building and painting kits?). We have had one customer report negative results using lacquer thinner, and another report glowingly positive results using lacquer thinner. If you brush Colourcoats, keep in mind that it is formulated to be self-etching on plastic (meaning the average builder doesn't have to worry about washing parts before painting), so you want to minimize working back and forth through the paint once you lay it on. JMSDF isn't yet in the Colourcoats modern line, but only because I'm still waiting for Randy to send me the samples he's got so we can get them matched and mixed. Suffice it to say, we plan to add JMSDF.
