I also need deck plans for the UK frigate SALISBURY (Type 61). Any suggestions would be appreciated.... << I too am interested to find RN frigate plans. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From: Clifford Franklin Subject: Aquila airgroup The RE 2001 was the only aircraft to be assigned to the Aquila. Three examples were converted for trials, and all were painted in a light blue-grey overall, with the standard white fuselage band and the usual national markings. However, those aircraft that were to be used in service would have had the usual dark olive green uppersurfaces and light grey undersurfaces. This is similar to the colour schemes of the RE 2000 "catapultabiles," where the trials aircraft on the Guiseppe Miraglia were in overall light blue-grey, but the service aircraft on the battleships were in dark olive and light grey. cheers Cliff -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From: "Rick Schiller" Subject: Squadron Putty: Green or White? Any difference between the Green or White Squadron Putty? I've been using the Testor's Red Putty but I have heard the Squadron Putty dries finer. Rick -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: "Sean D. Hert" Subject: Modern German Colors Does anyone have a good color reference for the greys used by the Deutschemarine? I'm getting ready to build the Revell F-122.... Sean D. Hert -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From: Starline / Fleetline Subject: Re: almost forgot to praise the ANZAC day parade visitors >> Nice to see foreign visting warships march..also it used to be a good source of open days , but thanks to Sept 11 no more open days with US or any warship in Sydney I figure the only open days now will be Navy day sometime in Oct or Nov I hope.. << HMNZS Canterbury (visiting here in Melbourne) was open on the weekend for public visitors (& yes they marched). Must say for a 31 year old ship the Kiwis keep her in pristine condition. Yes things are a little tighter for those wishing to visit warships. Nice to see the Kiwis figure they haven't done anythun to upseet anywon, so why not open eh? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) From: Starline / Fleetline Subject: Re: Pit-Road Paints Only thinners I can find that seem to work OK are Sanyo Gunze Mr. Color Thinners. Have had excellent results though I don't know about mixing them with any other colour. Their colours seem really accurate anyway, in particular the USN/JMSDF ones. Though over time the USN Haze Grey goes a little more blueish, under some skies the real paint does the same. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8) From: John Snyder Subject: Re: USS ARKANSAS color conundrum! Hi Fritz, Sure looks like Ms.12 to me. The hull and deck tones are very similar, which is certainly true of 5-N Navy Blue and Deck Blue 20-B, and the superstructure is much lighter so should be 5-H Haze Gray. No sign of a pattern anywhere.... Cheers, John Snyder White Ensign Models http://dspace.dial.pipex.com/white.ensign.models/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 9) From: Gernot Hassenpflug Subject: Pit Road Paints In VOL1676 Dboykap@aol.com asked on the Subject of Pit-Road Paints 1. Thinner is Mr. Color leveling thinner. There is another Mr. Color thinner, for lacquer acrylics, but the Leveling one is best. 2. Work very well with water-based acrylics, and indeed with the Tamiya ones. Of course you need to use caution, since the thinner for lacquer will dissolve the water-based one. So the best bet is to use the lacquers first, and the water-based second. If you want to have independent paints, use lacquers and enamels together in any order. 3. In my experience the lacquers are quick-drying, a matter of hours, and become hard after a day or so, even in the very humid summer in Kyoto. Good luck, Gernot -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10) From: DortaB@aol.com Subject: Re: USS COMTE DE GRASSE, BARRY & CAPE ST GEORGE; CVN-65 COLOURS For Roy McCay; Try the GMM decal sheets; they have sets of hull numbers you can cut out to make any ship you like. Bear in mind that they are not the current toned done numbers, but are the hi-vis ones from several years back. As far as colors, try either FS 36375 or a 50/50 mix of that and 36440. That USN is a toughy.
