After all if they have a webpage advertising their wares, especially if they are the only source of (for example) resin kits or after market accessories, they should expect and even encourage foreign country customers. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From: "R N Pearson" Subject: Re: Overseas Payments >> Making overseas payments where credit cards are not acceptable can be quite costly when bank charges of $20 to $45 have to be figured in. US postal orders are only good in US dollars and the same applies to postal orders of other countries, i.e. they are only issued in local currency. << Sorry, but this is incorrect - at least for Canada .. if you get an INTERNATIONAL MONEY ORDER it is issued in the currency of the intended country. I regularily get IMOs in USD or GBP. While I have a lot of general views, there are several "dark spots" in my data collection, where I am looking for some light. I need detail pictures of the following aereas of the ship: - Supporting structure of the flight deck for a "long hull" ESSEX - Hangar - Bow (Forecastle deck) - Stern Thank you for your help Roger Harr, Switzerland -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From: "graham and melanie" Subject: ebay HMS Illustrious Aircraft Carrier (1/400) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1730901040 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: Starline / Fleetline Subject: Re: AOEs When I was on-board visiting Camden they were very proud to state that they (inc Sacramento) are the fastest in the fleet and the only ones truly capable of keeping up the the rest of the group should the carrier be required to transit at high speed. The normal cruise speed is limited to the speed of the Auxiliaries. This coupled with the one-stop-shop advantages makes them the most versatile. I guess you could say it's thanks to the battleship powerplants. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TRADERS, ANNOUNCEMENTS & NOTICEBOARD -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) From: SeaPhoto@aol.com Subject: Ship stuff on ebay Hi Everyone, I just listed the some goodies on eBay that you might be interseted in: Skywave Equipement for Modern Ship II; all kinds of 1/700 scale detail parts for modern warships; CIWS, Oto Melara, Torpedo Tubes and more. The model will show the ship in her 1916 fit with torpedo nets and 8.8 cm casemates in the fore superstructure and the aft battery deck. It will be available in summer 2002. We also had a long discussion on that ill-bred B-Resina kit of Vanguard which lead to the following conclusions: 1. The sale of the B-Resina kit of HMS Vanguard will be discontinued by WSW. 2. I will revise this kit, and Thomas Weihs will possibly add a small PE fret for the revised kit. 3. Those peole who have alredy purchased the "old" B-Resina kit from WSW will be credited a "bonus" if they should decide to buy the revised kit too. There is no time frame for the revision, but we are confident that the revised Vanguard might be available arround fall 2002.
