Hi Michael, A few years back there was a series of articles in the now-defunct Model Ship Builder on accurizing the Revell NORTH CAROLINA. The finished model was quite nice. You might see if you can find these articles. As for removing paint, head down to your local hobby shop and see if they stock the paint remover made by--IIRC--Polly S. It will remove most paints without harming plastic. You just immerse the part (or whole model) and walk away. Come back after the requisite amount of time and start washing things off. Smallshaw" >> This goes in the category of Skywave not releasing the 1/700 modernized Iowa in the United States. Your guess is as good as mine, I do not understand the logic! << As I understand it, Skywave has a deal with Trumpeter on this one. Trumpeter will market the modern Iowas outside Japan in exchange for Skywave getting to use Trumpeter's much larger injection equipment. Skywave has been unable to create such a big model until now, and Trumpeter gets a quality model to sell from Skywave's designers. Although, I have not seen Trumpeter announce the NJ or the Iowa yet. Perhaps they're waiting for their current crop to sell before releasing more. I know that Hobbylink Japan is already offering both ships on their website, so those of us outside Japan that can't wait for Trumpeter have a source. Joe Poutre -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From: "Fernando, Yohan" Subject: New HighMold Arizona, etc I was just perusing around the HobbyLink Japan "Future Ships Releases" page, and noticed they have a photo of the upcoming HighMold Arizona. Also shots of Tamiya's retooled Mogami and Hasegawa's retooled Ise/Hyuga BBs. And...oddly enough a 1/800 full hull Shinano by Tamiya (a re-release of an old 1962 kit). Have to say, it looks it's age and must cater more to the collector/nostalgia market. Yohan Fernando -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From: "Fernando, Yohan" Subject: Re: Pitroad Iowa released where? All 4 Iowa's to be released by Pitroad are modernized versions... but will any of the Tamiya Iowa's be WWII versions? It would be nice to have a Tamiya USS Iowa with the early open bridge and that unique "feathered" camo measure... Yohan Fernando -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: "pablo sifuentes" Subject: Re: Bobtail Cruiser Thanks all that replied to my request. The only problem is that now I *have* to build it! Regards, Pablo -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From: "John Rule" Subject: S-33's close encounter with Kelly & Bulldog Reading the recent thread on this topic has yet again proved the value of such a list as SMML. John -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) From: "Millen, Alan R." Subject: Revell S-Boot Why wait for Squadron? I got mine from Bill Gruner of Pacific Front Hobbies, what, Bill, 3 or 4 months ago? Beautiful kit! May even get around to building it this decade. Alan R. Millen -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8) From: JKrakow@aol.com Subject: Name that Schnellboot Hi Ian Since there are no takers, the boat in question is S-55. See p 185 of Richard Lakowski's excellent pictorial book "Reichs- und Kriegsmarine Geheim 1919-1945." S-55 met a messy fate on January 10 1944 at the hands of RAF fighter bombers; her own torpedoes detonated during the attack. By the way, I'm preparing a new set of photos of German Schnellboote in the Spanish Navy during and after WW2.
