I am looking for a U.S. resident who is a retired pro modeler or some body who models as hobby who may like to help me do a project. The job is to do scratch the major hull parts of a 1/160 scale LSM. Complete in scale plans are available. I will do all detail work and final painting.. I will pay a reasonable price for this job. If you are interested in more info, please contact me off line. Thank you. Can anybody tell me if this was an error in the original edition or an error that has crept into the revised edition? Is anybody aware of any other changes? Regards Les Brown -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: Kerry Jang Subject: LE CERF in Miniature - Pictures on Line Hello All, At long last I have some photographs of my recently completed miniature model of "LE CERF" (1779-1780) on-line. It can be found on: http://www.nutsnbits.com/kerry.htm A very large THANK YOU to M. Daniel Munoz for giving me some space on his excellent website nutsnbits. If you have not seen Daniel's work, you will be impressed with his machining skills. Daniel is making a model of LA BELLE and he has turned some beautiful cannon barrels for it and has given us instructions on how to do it. I hope you will drop by the site and let me know what you think of my first attempt at a miniature sailing ship. The techniques used on this sailing ship apply to models at larger scales and eras. Cheers, Kerry -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From: "Andrew Jones" Subject: misc ship stuff ship storage: I think they still keep many of the old ships for exchanges with other navies especially those that still run of WW2 ships & I believe there are still a few of the old ships running around, so "as a favour" the US keep the old ships "in stock" & if the foreign navies need a "new" diesel or something thay have a ship on hand ready to be cut up by the dock workers..also I remember being told that they keep for times of emergency as storage ships. They load em up with what ever they are to be held & then will be towed by tug & used as a floating depot ..i guess in times of a big war or major disaster operations if the navy is too busy etc etc Endoscope: hey to save money you could always get one from a doctor.. hopefully clean!, lol ..or maybe check out your local Tandy or Dick smith electronic shops..i have them sell those little cameras that they shove down pipes to see what is blocking your pipes.. Windtalkers: It sounds like a good film .. I think it wont be out in OZ for another few more weeks yet...but looking forward to it -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out the SMML site for the List Rules, Backissues, Member's models & reference pictures at: http://smmlonline.com Check out the APMA site for an index of ship articles in the Reference section at: http://apma.org.au/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- End of Volume
