This is my first foray into the world of smml message posting, hithertoo only an avid reader of other peoples searches and often astonishingly comprehensively answered questions. So here is my problem (other than building modelboats day & night....) I have in my model collection (the unbuilt one!) a passable model of the French Dreadnought Bretagne as at 1940 in 1/700 in resin manufactured by Delphis models. it has sat in my cupboard for 3-4 years so is now getting ripe to be built! Does anyone out there know of a set of plans or detail photographs of either Bretagne or Lorraine or indeed a ship monograph of either of the ships. I have searched thru all my books and mags and have come up with a fair number of photos all of which appear to be significantly earlier but nothing approaching a drawing of any use. While on the subject of Dreadnoughts in answer to Les Browns query about HMS Dreadnought kits I have built a 1/350 resin kit of this ship manufactured by Dave Runkle in the USA trading as I think steel navy or Rhino models (would appreciate his e-mail address if anyone knows) Photographs of the finished ship model can be viewed in the members model gallery on the home page of SMML in splice the mainbrace Thanking you in advance for what I anticipate and hope to be the usual avalanche of information JIM BAUMANN UK England -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Model club & SMMLcon Information -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) From: AAA Hobby Subject: Re: VaBeach Attendees List.... >> The Beanster....Ray Bean from Winnipeg, Canada....will be there, and friend, who I hope will be making his own announcement. Dont you think it might be nice for us all to do a HARBOR CRUISE together?? A bunch of us lathered up with cameras and beers all interested in the same thing making use of good time. I would rather do that anytime than sit in a bar, its really a short convention and so much to see and do......your thoughts, chappies? << Great Idea! The harbor tours are fantastic. I would like to suggest a Thursday or Friday evening "Sunset Tour" at 1830 on the American Rover. The fare is $22 each, however, it is a three hour tour - so be prepared to get blown to a "tropic desert isle" if the first mate looks a little goofy! http://www.americanrover.com/cruise_schedules.htm They're located downtown near Nauticus just past the opposite end of I-264 (12 miles?). I have emailed them for group rate info. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From: "Leslie Brown" Subject: Escort Issue 20 The July issue of Escort, the newsletter of the IPMS (UK) Small Warships SIG, was posted 30th June 2002. I'll add new names to it every day and repost it so folks can keep up with who will be there. I'm looking in to getting a place for us to meet on Friday the 2nd of August not sure what time or location yet.
