Colour profiles:everything ranging from Buffaloes in 1940 & a TBD with experimental cammo to a great lakes training aircraft (SNJ-3C) to night fighters & corsairs etc up to the planes that were too late to see combat like the F7f-2n Tigercats & the F8F-1 Bearcat (perfect if you want to do a "luft 46" scene perhaps except in the Pacific perhaps???) Most of the photos are in black & white, yet there are a few photos in colour on the back.. again well worth having a look at especially if you want to detail your planes with markings on your flightdeck Availability: Should be available at all your local hobby, military book stores or online at the usual places Andrew Oz ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From: NAVYDAZE@aol.com Subject: Re: Re-releases David, Yes I remember it as the Norton Sounds and I believe it had a helicopter deck on the foc'sle and a missile launcher on the aft deck? But I also think I recall it as the Currituck as a regular AV sister of the Pine Island. Can anyone confirm that?? Michael Donegan NAVYDAZE Naval & Aviation Artist http://www.navydaze.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From: "Robin Jenkins" Subject: MTB-74 I am requesting some information on behalf of a good friend, one of the best known large scale boat modellers in the UK. He is currently scratch building a 1/32nd scale model of MTB-74, the adapted Vosper with twin forecastle mounted torpedo tubes that took part in the St. Nazaire raid in 1942. Can anyone help with the three following queries: 1. Does anyone know of a source of a clear photograph showing the deck with the special exhaust system fitted in place? I have sourced deck photos without the system, and plans of the system, but no photo. 2. Does anyone have any knowledge or opinions of the colours used in the three colour camouflage scheme the vessel was painted in? I have seen references and views expressed on the following options: a. 507a, 507b, 507c b. 507a, MS3, Mountbatten Pink (light) c. 507b, Mountbatten Pink (medium), Mountbatten Pink (light) d. 507a, B5, Western Approaches blue 3. Any confirmation that the deck would have been either 507a or 507b? Many thanks, Robin Jenkins ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From: "S B" Subject: Revell S-Boat Doug, You should go to http://www.prinzeugen.com/ In the colors and camo section they give a FS match number to the pearl grey used on the S-100 series. The match is insignia white and looks like a correct match When I compare my finished boat to the few color photo's used on the website. As for the bottom of the hull I used model master aircraft interior black. Steve Brejnak ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: David Gregory Subject: Soviet "Stalnoi" MTB images Does anyone have any image of the Soviet steel hull "Stalnoi" MTBs? According to Jurg Meister's book, two(TKA 65 and 85) were built in 1931 in Lenningrad. Acording to one source, they carried 3 torpedoes in a trough at the stern, similar to the G-5. Reportedly they were used on Lake Ladoga in WW2. Any image (drawing or photo) would be welcome!! Dave Gregory The P.T. Dockyard ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From: "Jeff Herne, NJAHOF" Subject: No more figures left Who would have thought...all these little plastic fellas have sat in my spares boxes for years, and now they're all but gone...I've had about a dozen requests, and after splitting them up as fairly as I can, only the unrecognizable blobs from the old Frog and Airfix kits remain...so, the offer is closed, unless someone wants 1/72 alien figures.. Jeff ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) From: David Miller Subject: Re: Fire Fighter Thanks for all the information on Fire Fighter. The kit I received the other day is a 2002 release. It does not have the plated parts mentioned by Kurt, but still looks great. I'm thinking of turning the brass parts, or at least some of them. I have also had very good luck airbrushing metallic paints, too. Fire Fighter could definitely be RC'd, especially with the mini- and micro-RC equipment that is now available. Ahhhhh! what a hobby!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- TRADERS, ANNOUNCEMENTS & NOTICEBOARD ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) From: John Snyder Subject: Re: Revell Schnellboot Hi Doug, Don't bother with those paint reference numbers in the kit.
