Especially color schemes in WWI, photo references, etc., both on line and in book form. Thanks: Charlie ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From: David Gregory Subject: Groener" Deutsche Kriegshiffe Vol 1" on Ebay It may be a little late as this ends in 10 hrs but Groener's Volume 1 is going CHEAP. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1568632918 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From: "Peter Crandall" Subject: Odin I have found the Odin (a hypothetical german hybrid converted from a Bismark hull) on: www.german-navy.de/smb_main.htm. This was a scratch build and I am interested in scratch building the Odin in 1/350. I have not been able to find any info, plans, or pictures of this shipother than the one picture on the wensite I've listed above. Does anyone have any information on this ship? I am interested in any info, plans, pictures, or any advise anyone could give. Thank You ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From: Ives100 Subject: Re: Submarines >> My name is Roy and I would like to say its great to be back on the web. Without the help of some great people on this site it has been a rough year finding referance info about subs and other sea faring vessels. My primary subject is Nuclear Subs., Although I have yet to get one done. I'm mainly interested in the SSN-589 USS Scorpion and the SSN-593 USS Thresher, so any info that you might have would be helpfull. I look forward to reading each news letter I get, so with that I will say farwell and happy building. << OK, I have the hull plans for Scorpion and some plans for the Permit/Thresher class submarines. I also have information on converting the Revell Skipjack (lead ship of Scorpion) to something decent. You will need to let us know more specifically what you might need to help out in your model building projects. You should also check out www.SubCommittee.com, home of the SubCommittee where there are only two kinds of ships: submarines and targets! The SubCommittee puts out a quarterly glossy publication, the SubCommittee Report, with much submarine information, including a regular column on display models, written by Yours Truly. In fact, I am just finsihing up an article for the next issue on building the Special Projects version (see the book "Blind Man's Bluff" for details) of the USS Halibut (SSGN 587), and reviewing Don Preul's new 1:192 resin submarine kits (Specifically the Ohio and Virginia class). I will also be posting the Special Operations Halibut pictures to the SteelNavy site very shortly. Welcome aboard! Revell Germany used to produce a version of one. From a telemovie based on the orginial story not the disney version. This telemovie must have done well in Germany. Because on the kit it made mention of a company that sold videos of it. It's hull was whale shaped except at the stern and had two ports that were positioned like a set of eyes. The telemovie was made back in the 90's. Is this the one your looking for.? Craig ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- TRADERS, ANNOUNCEMENTS & NOTICEBOARD ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) From: "WEM" Subject: Re: WEM Russian/Soviet photo-etch, 1/700 RENOWN, and more COLOURCOATS paints Hi Filipe, >> When does the Russian/Soviet 1/700 photo-etch set is coming out??? Some of my Portuguese fellow shipmodelers are curious to see it!!! Any hints in what it brings??? << Well, given the continued (albeit intermittent) availability of 1/700 scale kits in plastic, together with the increasing number of Combrig kits, the set will inevitably carry a LOT of radars. Plastic/resin is definitely not the media for radars in this scale. However, Peter Hall is currently extremely busy, finishing of the set for the HELLER 1/400 SCHARNHORST/GNEISENAU before the next release is completed, the "ULTIMATE" 1/350 YAMATO/MUSASHI set, another whopping 2 sheet set like KGV and ARIZONA.. only then will we discuss what the next move will be. It COULD be the 1/700 Soviet set, or a set for the new TAMIYA MOGAMI, or the Skywave LIVERMORE and NEW JERSEY. BTW, as I have been getting a lot of enquiries about RENOWN, Peter has also taken over construction of the WEM 1/700 RENOWN pattern from Brian Fawcett. He is taking an absolutely innovative approach to the pattern construction, which we don't think has ever been used before (the end result will be pixel-perfect deck detail throughout the ship) and I guarantee that the end result will knock yer socks off! Perhaps some of you who meet him at the IPMS Nationals next month would like to offer up your suggestions re. the etched brass sets that YOU would like to see?
