Thanks, John Wressell ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From: "Roy Knight" Subject: Re: Submarines >> OK, I have the hull plans for Scorpion and some plans for the Permit/Thresher class submarines. I also have information on converting the Revell Skipjack (lead ship of Scorpion) to something decent. You will need to let us know more specifically what you might need to help out in your model building projects. You should also check out www.SubCommittee.com, home of the SubCommittee where there are only two kinds of ships: submarines and targets! The SubCommittee puts out a quarterly glossy publication, the SubCommittee Report, with much submarine information, including a regular column on display models, written by Yours Truly. In fact, I am just finsihing up an article for the next issue on building the Special Projects version (see the book "Blind Man's Bluff" for details) of the USS Halibut (SSGN 587), and reviewing Don Preul's new 1:192 resin submarine kits (Specifically the Ohio and Virginia class). I will also be posting the Special Operations Halibut pictures to the SteelNavy site very shortly. Welcome aboard! << Hi Tom, You might not remember me but you mailed me a set of those skipjack plans before my computer selfdestructed. I am happy to say that I am about 75% complete on my Scorpion model thanks to you. I am in the middle of making a mold of the hull so I can make some resin copies for my father, who hunted subs when he was in the Navy, and for a friend who was helpful due to his having served on skipjacks while he was in the Navy. I would be interested in the Permit/Thresher plans. I will look into the subCommittee about their magazine they publish. BTW have you seen the new Jane's book on Submarines? It's called Submarines War beneath the waves from 1776 to the present day, I picked it up and it has been some what useful as a modeling referance, but mainly it has been very enlightning as to sub. history. Until the next time, there is only one kind of good marine, a Submarine. Roy ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From: "Doug Bauer" Subject: Sovremenniy deck colors Can anyone give me an idea of what a good color match (in acrylics, enamels, etc.) for the superstructure decks of the Sovremmeniy class ships might be? Doug Bauer Poway, CA Hi Doug, Try the WEM Colourcoat enamael paint range. In their Modern Naval Colours paints, they have "Russian Navy Deck Red", "Russian Northern Fleet Grey" & "Russian Navy Deck Green". It's available from many online retailers. Shane ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: "Don Macdonald" Subject: To Craig on Sub question Hey Craig I think that is the one, To me it looks like a fish with a set of Eye balls, not sure on when the movie came out. So far I have not found any plan service that can send me a set of plans for this buddy of mind. Do you have some ideas on whear he can try to get a set? I am in the process of trying to finish a Spanish Gallon that was built about 75 years ago by My WIfe's Uncle. He is in his 90s and started bulding it when he was some whear in his 20 or 30s, the Plans were lost So I done some resarch for some then set my self with a set of plans and having fun. I have to build all of the parts by Hand. Scratch building all of the way. I usely build US Navy Steel ships, So this is different and intresting. It looks like an English Man of war, This ship is a sold wood hull, very different, But if you know of a set of plans we can use please get back in touch and I will pass along the information to this person. This was a scratch build and I am interested in scratch building the Odin in 1/350. I have not been able to find any info, plans, or pictures of this shipother than the one picture on the wensite I've listed above. Does anyone have any information on this ship? I am interested in any info, plans, pictures, or any advise anyone could give. << That's my friend Michael Emmerich's site! I know he built this ship out of spare parts from other projects, but I think he drew up some basic plans for it. He does that for most of his ships. Send me your e-mail address (try one of my backup e-mails: WellsBrothers "at" att "dot" net ) and I'll tell him that you're looking for his plans. Michael has been busy with work lately, and hasn't had much time for his ship models.... :-( David R. I'd just like to say to my Aussie friends (and family) that we're thinking of you all here in the UK at this difficult time for you all. Why the perpetrators of crimes like this feel they are achieving anything defeats my limited intellect. Please accept my full sympathy to you all. Brits and Aussie's don't always see eye to eye over things (especially Cricket and Rugby) but we're pretty similar I reckon.
