Friedrich The FriedrichFiles http://www.geocities.com/friedkappes/flagship.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From: "David Hathaway" Subject: Mikasa I can safely say (having been very lucky enought to visit the ship in January) that the engines and boilers are no longer in the ship. The spaces are used as exhibition rooms with exhibits on the ship and the seige of Port Arthur and the Battle of Tsushima. The main gun turrets are also replicas but they are reasonable and give a good impression of the original. The whole ship is well worth a visit if you can. Easy to get to from Central Tokyo, it's about 30-40 minutes out on the local rail and then a short walk. I took a load of photos if anyone is interested (contact me offline) and I am still looking for a set of detailed plans of the ship for a model I want to make "when I have time" if anyone can oblige (I can swap for some photos....).
