CONSTITUTION Well, all you "stick-and-stringers" have had ample time to determine how many sails comprise a full suit for U.S.S. CONSTITUTION by now. Let's hear your candidate for the total number (and anyone who says "all of them" will be keel-hauled and made to walk the plank !). Question, I am going to be working on a 1/350 model of the USS New Jersey in her 1980's modernized configuration and am looking to find aftermarket deck, guns and extra detail parts in this scale. I am starting on the Big J, but am curious as to if any after market parts have been produced for all WW2 warships of the IJN and USN? I am going to also be inlaying material for the teak decking and am looking for suggestions, ref articles as such to help out in this process. Also, kit wise..any word on the new WW2 injection molded carrier kits that are rumored for release? Thanks in advance...... Bob ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From: Boatbldr Subject: SMML 2K!! Ladies and gentlemen - in a few short days SMML 2000 will appear in our in boxes. That my friends will be an awesome occasion! I would like to take this opportunity to thank Shane and Lorna for all the long nights putting out this digest - all the flame wars, ISP's who give them nightmares, and general B/S that makes this kind of task, I am sure, at times quite tiresome! So then Bravo Zulu to the Jenkins crowd down under! And thanks! regards Boatbldr ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From: "Aragiannis Evangelos" Subject: Re: Nichimo Yamato Hi there, Nichimo has a site indeed: http://www.alpha-net.ne.jp/users2/nichimo/ Try Translating at: http://babelfish.altavista.com/ OR: http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/wwwjdic.html Cheers, Evangelos ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: Darren Subject: Re: KingKit I haven't mail ordered from them, but when I was there I visited their location and it was jammed to the rafters with old kits of all sorts. Mostly semi-reasonable prices that I saw. They seemed pretty keen in the back where they did the mail order and they were giving out a huge list of current stock. Darren Scannell ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From: WRPRESSINC Subject: Ark Royal I have recently been through a set of private photos taken of the ships operating off Dakar. The view of the Ark Royal shows her to be overall dark grey. I though that Mr G might find this of interest. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) From: WRPRESSINC Subject: US Landing Craft (colours of) Can anyone tell me what the colours of US LCTs / LCIs etc would have been upon delivery from the builders, that is, before any application of disruptive camouflage. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- TRADERS, ANNOUNCEMENTS & NOTICEBOARD ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) From: John Snyder Subject: Re: TRUMPETER CV-8 Hi David, As regards the HORNET airgroup, we already have 1/350 Devastators, Dauntlesses, and Wildcats in production, each with its own dedicated photoetch set (you ought to see the perforated split dive brakes for the Dauntlesses!). I didn't realize how much I enjoyed the daily email until it was gone. Thanks a lot Shane and Lorna. In case anybody's interested, I have a bunch of models I'm currently auctioning on Ebay. My username is "c177guy" and I have mostly planes, but a few ships as well. Ships include: Matchbox USS Indianapolis heavy cruiser Matchbox USS San Diego light cruiser Revell SS United States luxury liner Revell USS Skipjack Submarine Blue Water Navy USS Aaron Ward I know some of you folks are also into planes, but there are too many to list here. I usually knock off 10% for bidders that identify themselves as SMMLies (every little bit helps). And of course, international SMMLies are most welcome to bid, despite what the auction description reads.
