MWL ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: "Vladimir Yakubov" Subject: Re: new Imperial Russian Navy "gunboat" kit I have that kit. The casting is OK. Unfortunately the surface is kind of rough (if you've ever seen AER Moldova resin armor kits you know what I mean), so you will either have to remove surface details to clean it up or sand around them, either of which is a major pain. The good thing about the kit is that it allows you to build either a waterline or full hull version, but no props are provided. Surface detail is very nice, but as I mentioned above it will likely be damaged during cleanup. The kit is tiny, less than 6" long, there are only 19 parts (counting the sailor) and a length of wire is provided for the mast and the railings. Overall it is definitely a buildable kit, and will look interesting next to some other kits out there. If anyone wants photos of the details I'll post them. BTW the name of the ship is translated wrong. It should be "Dispatch Ship Pike" not "Aviso Spike". The box art also shows 3 more ships in the series - MO-4 sub chaser, OD-200 sub chaser and Pr 1125 armored motor gunboat (with two T-34 turrets). Vladimir ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From: Peter Subject: Looking for a 1/350 Seahawk I am looking for a 1/350 Seahawk. Does anyone make an aftermarket one? I looked but did not see one sold by WEM. Does anyone on the list have one for sale or trade? if so, please email me off list and we'll work something out. For trade, I have lots of 1/700 small items but very little in 1/350 to offer. Many thanks, Peter ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) From: "Ken Hoolihan" Subject: Re: IJN Subchasers I am currently putting PE on Tamiya's little 1/700 Ch #13 class subchaser kit and about to start painting. Although the back of the box shows the deck as being dark grey, I understand many IJN ships (cruisers and destroyers anyway) had linoleum on their external decks, particularly early in the war, ie 1942. Does anyone on the board know if these subchasers also had linoleum on their decks. Ken Hoolihan ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8) From: "chris" Subject: TV Alert in Australia for Sunday Hi All, TV alert for those in Australia. This Sunday 8.30pm on SBS is a program called "Germany's War". This documentory is about Bismark vs Hood. Thanks, Chris Canberra ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 9) From: "Frank Laturnus" Subject: Re: Osprey: German Pocket Battleships Book >> I looked at this at my game store and was singularly unimpressed. How many decades after the Warship Profile on the GRAF SPEE came out with the bogus use of green as a camo color, and the book repeats that? I'm going to take another look at the book later, but my initial impression is don't rush out and buy it. << Hey Brooks! Interesting! What would be the right camouflage colour of Graf Spee during the La Plata raid?
