I do not know about anybody else but their monster Enterprise models new a big time up grade, also is Panda models a off shot of Dragon models? Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From: "Devin J. Poore" Subject: Re: American Civil War ships > I am writing on behalf of an Australian manufacturer who is interested in starting up a line of 1/72 ships from the American Civil War. Looking more toward the river gunboats rather than the open ocean ships. Can someone point me in the direction of a good source for scale plans etc? << Chris, I have several sets of ACW era ship plans from Taubman Plans. Now, I'm not an ironclad/gunboat expert, so I can not comment on the to-the-rivet accuracy of the drawings, but to me they look great. I also believe that The Maryland Silver Company carries plans of such craft. The Model kit is Lindbergh quality at best. I was very disappointed when my friend and I opened the box. This kit lacked detail in the superstructure parts and the hull was not the right shape either. It would take alot to make this a nice kit. I wanted to share this with you. Bill G ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: "Daniel Bauer" Subject: Model Wholesale Distributor Hello ALL, Can someone here in the US recommend a good Wholesale Model Distributor I may contact. Thanks in advance. Dan Bauer ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From: Dboykap Subject: Re: linoleum on the No. 13 class >> Tamiya actually markets two completely different versions of the No. 13 class subchaser in 1/700 scale. I take it from your post that you are building the newer one (sold with the Harashima minesweeper and No. 19 class minelayer). This is an original Tamiya tooling with, as I recall, smooth decks. The other version (formerly marketed by Skywave/PitRoad and before that by Green Max in Japan) shows nonslip tread detail throughout the main weather deck. If that interpretation is correct, it would seem these ships had no linoleum. Also, the "Illustrations of Imperial Japanese Navy Vessels" book by Model Art Japan as well as the illustration in Jenschura, Jung, and Mickel's "Warships of the Imperial Japanese Navy 1869-1945" both show these ships without the linoleum. I'd say your best bet would be to depict the decks as gray-painted steel. << I would agree with Tim. Maru Special #49 on IJN Subchasers, etc., doesn't have any clear deck photos of the #13 class but the line drawings do not show linoleum strips. And how things are done today! << After Adm. Taylors mathematical method was dropped, destroyer hull forms were developed the traditional way - by the designers eye, skill, and knowledge. Today we are back to mathematical methods using special purpose computer problems. I do not know specifically what the Navy is now using. You really ought to specify. (Winks at John Snyder, who should have thought of that!) A complete list of the BISMARCK chase ships filling in the holes in the previous posting is in the files of the Yahoo group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/theplasticnavy, which had a group project of 'ships from the BISMARCK chase' over the last few months. Dear all I am building Heller's 1/400 Illustrious class carrier as HMS Victorious circa 1941 and had a couple of questions: 1. What colours were used inside the numerous gallery decks along each side of the hull - deck, bulkheads and overhead? Was the disruptive pattern carried over on to the interior bulkheads? 2. Is there a clearer colour/pattern reference for the Admiralty disruptive pattern carried by Victorious in 1941 than the one in the Anatomy of the Ship Victorious?
