Get to a Chiropractor. I have had two bad discs for thirty years. My future wife put me on to her Chiropractor about 15years ago. I was skeptical...he was a master magician! I get PO'd when I think of all the months of suffering I used to endure. Now I see the "doc" when I "pop" and they make it better. Sometimes you have to try a few to get one that does you best. best wishes Simon Scheuer ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From: "Nuno J. V. Rubim" Subject: Yamato, again... This is a question I believe was never (I guess...) presented to SMML. Yamato. Besides Skulski's drawings, is there any study on one aspect of her construction which I believe is somehow little known? I'm speaking about the barrel's gun stops (127 mm), which are difficult to drawn, because they had a complex design. Thanks for any help. N.Rubim ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From: URUDOFSKY Subject: Re: Prinz Eugen I think Steve is right on all points, particularly the profit angle of the strange project proposal. However, I think that the Prinz Eugen may be safe to dive on by now, since some diving companies take tourists there and one of the propellers is displayed in Germany. Ulrich Rudofsky ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From: "Tom Detweiler" Subject: Re: 1/48 Queen Mary model Colm-- Why not just do a fiberglas layup on normal small boat built-up plank and stringer construction and build it purposefully so you can get in and ride in it? Double your fun! Advantages to this idea would be 1) more fun 2) existing small boat construction techniques and plenty of help available 3) could build working details like boats/davits, lights, steam whistles, bilge pumps, funnel exhaust, all kindsa stuff 4) add a passenger seat or three, and sell rides on it, help recoup your costs! Good luck with it, I hope you're retired already to give you the time you'll need!! I just got my copy of "S-Boote" and wanted to add to what Al Ross said about it. There are some really great photos of the S30 and S38 class! I recommend buying this book, with some reservations: There is a lot of irrelevant "filler" material like a full page wasted on a man in a rain slicker and a full page color painting of an oil tanker being bombed. Like Al said, the drawings are bad. The "color" photos look very artificial and are practically useless as a reference. The captions aren't reliable. For example, the photos on top of pages 116 and 122 and the bottom of 108 that claim to show action on board S-boote are obviously not on S-boote! The text is also unreliable and, adding to the insult, full of irritating spelling errors. I recommend the inexpensive new Squadron Schnellboote booklet as a must to check the "facts" in this book, and is the better value of the two with excellent detail (flak, radar etc) for model building. Just found on a local show some resin figures in 1/72 from HP Models. They are U-boot crew figures. Six figures in the box and the price is 11 Euro... I put a scan of the top box and the figures on: http://users.pandora.be/wienne/figures.jpg They are very nice, cleanly cast, some flash, but easy to clean up. I see no reason, they couldn't be used on the S-boot, not in action stations off course but in harbour scenes they could do nicely! Ian Wrenford, Lindsay Charman, Jim Baumann, Stephen Allen, Steve Varhegyi have all been busily building of late and you can see some great models in the Mainbrace galleries. The SMML Archives have been added to as well - volumes 2207-2268. Enjoy these models - there is some great work here. Cheers Lorna ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- TRADERS, ANNOUNCEMENTS & NOTICEBOARD ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) From: GtLakesMem@aol.com Subject: Great Lakes Models Good Morning Listers: I have been reading SMML for several years.
