Victorian Battleships Hello All,, I am trying to locate a book called: Modelling (late?) Victorian Battleships the author is BRIAN KING Any ideas where/or from whom I could buy this book in the UK (or abroad..!!) I am keen to get a copy. Saw it advertised recently,(cannot recall where!), thought I did not want it; but now I do!! Any help appreciated. thank you also for the responses and photos re: HMS Furious 1918, I think I am making progress now!! JIM BAUMANN ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From: "Ken Durling" Subject: Fletchers John Wilch- You could not do better than the Floating Drydock's Fletcher Class plan book, not only tons of great 1/96 line drawings, but many detail photos of a great variety of boats. Centers on two prime examples, one square and one round bridge, but has many other references. It's a large 11x17 format, a joy to peruse. Ken D ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From: "NJAHOF" Subject: Fletchers The best readily available reference is my book, Warship Perspectives, Fletcher, Gearing and Sumner Class Destroyers in WW2. It's carried by all the usual suspects. Tom's Modelworks, Gold Medal, White Ensign, Flagship Models and Eduard all do PE sets for the Tamiya kit. Tom's Modelworks does a square bridge conversion set for the Tamiya kit to convert her into a mid-late warship, including Emergency AA fits. Contact me via email through the website if you need any further assistance. Jeff Herne Modelwarships.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From: Bill Weckel Subject: Great Lakes Steamer SS Juniata My grandfather was the radio officer aboard the SS Juniata, a great lakes passenger steamer, during the inter-war years. He met my grandmother, a passenger, aboard her during one of it's runs. Anyone ever see anything like this in kit form? Some pics: http://www.milwaukeeclipper.com/pictures/Juniata/Juniatagallery.htm TIA, Bill ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: "enrico_villa\@libero\.it" Subject: Re: Hobby shops in Milan Hi Pelle and John on what John wrote: I don't know Rail Ship, but I surely do know Navitren (200 meters from my home) - despite the encouraging name, is 100% rail. I tend to be pessimistic on Rail Ship as well, since ship modeling is quite under-represented in Milan shops. I totally agree on suggesting a visit to Hobby Model Expo, in fact I will go there myself. If you are coming at another time of the year, just let me know because HME is hold twice a year and also there is a "model exchange" 3 times a year at the same place. Ciao Enrico ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From: "David Gregory" Subject: "Warship" bonanza on Ebay LOTS of issues of Warship on Ebay now.... http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewSellersOtherItems&userid=brooklyngallery&include=0&since=-1&sort=3&rows=50 Dave G. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) From: "Craig Bennett" Subject: Civilian sub Hi In issue #21 of Weird N.J. is a story about civilian built sub called the Questor 1 by a man named Jerry Bianco who made a living working on ships. It does a photo of the hulk. In 1971 he launched this thing and he supposely made some dives in Gravesend Bay below the Verrazzo bridge. In 1975 it was washed ashore after a storm in Coney Island Creekwhere it was docked and launched. It hasn't been used since. Any of you up that way ever hear of this or seen it? The magazine has a website called www.weirdnj.com and this story hasn't been put in yet but be forewarned it does deal with old legends, forgotten trivia ,ghost stories, abandoned buildings and paranormal activity. I'm not much into paranormal nonsense myself... but it can amusing to look at. If your interested.
