But whereas these three are about the WW 1 chasers, they may not be what you are looking for, as SC1012 was a WW 2 vessel. I too have been hoping to find these flicks, with no luck. Sills O'Keefe ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11) From: Mike Potter Subject: Roll call I write about warship technology and history; I draw computer-based pictures (2D digital models) of ships; and I recently returned to 3D modeling in plastic after more than a decade away. My previous good models include two Russian destroyers that visited San Diego in 1990. I detailed Skywave 1/700 kits and Gold Medal PE sets based on my own photographs and notes about them. I retired from USN/USNR service this summer but have a busy commercial job. Currently I'm building a series of 4 RN frigate designs, to take advantage of off-the-shelf 1/600 Airfix kits, 1/600 WEM parts, and nominally 1/700 Skywave parts when they fit 1/600. The planned ships include: - HMS Penelope, a Batch 2 Exocet Leander, the most advanced of these projects; - HMS Dido, a Batch 1 Ikara Leander; - an ASW Type 18 frigate, designed for conversion from WW2 destroyers; - an AD Type 62 frigate, intended for conversion from WW2 destroyers. All of these involve scratch building much of each ship, since no kit represents any of these designs. SMML list subscribers have been responsive and helpful to my queries. My e-mail is potter4@att.net. I'm eager to hear from anyone about: - designing, scratch building, and modifying small scale kits and naval weapons; - research and color photographs; - converting full hulls to waterline models; - selling or trading parts and decals; - etc. Specific things I seek: - decals of straight white lines and ~3/16" red circles (launcher warning); - 2 1/600 twin 40mm Bofors gun mounts; - circular sponsons for the Bofors gun mounts; - accurate 1/600 Sea Cat launchers - Airfix, WEM, and Skywave make them too big. Skywave is closest to 1/600 and it is supposed to be 1/700! He tells me that when the music was recorded into the 1/2 hour programs it was done live. He says that Robert Russell Bennett was a small man, with a handicap which deformed him, but that he stood on the podium in front of the orchestra, baton in hand, watching the video (kinescope) and directed the music in time with the filmed images. It certainly was not done at one stretch, but still, 13 hours of that kind of effort seems almost beyond belief. By the way, I have a CD of the music, (available at record stores) recorded and arranged in songs as Richard Rodgers wrote them. I don't even watch the video anymore; I play the music and watch the videos in my mind's eye. It works very well, my mental pictures can be in color if I want, and the Allies still win the war every time. And I can always hear in that deep voice, "And now,- - - - 'Rings Around Rabaul'."
