Hunley. You guys (and gals) are the best. Now all I have to do is get it done by Christmas... Happy Thanksgiving to all the U.S. SMMLies, and God bless. Check out the website and you can ask the guru, Dave Judy, for his thoughts since he is in the process of building one too. The kit looks awesome and is very detailed. It does have some casting bubbles with the small components, but they provide white metal parts and duplicate resin parts for the many mushroom vents and stuff that may need repaired. Plus they will ship replacements at no cost. The cost for the kit is $325... Thanks a lot! Enrico ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: "Perry Tolliver" Subject: New 1/350 scale Is there anything new in 1/350 scale plastic? I cannot afford the ships I want to model because they are resin. Is any type of Brooklyn class, Omaha class, Maryland class or anything of the like comming in 1/350 or perhaps WWI ships? Im tired of the Yamato/Bismark/Iowa/Arizona. Thank you ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From: "T. Kostis" Subject: 1:200 Aeronaut Bismarck Hello All, I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the 1:200 Bismarck from Aeronaut? What is the quality of the kit, does it have enough detail (or can it be easily modified)? Also, I was wondering if the detail package (that you pay extra for), does it contain enough accesories to make this old model a fairly detailed Bismarck? All the pictures I've seen of this kit are small and and not in focus, makes me wonder what this thing actually looks like up close. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tony Kostis ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) From: "Dave Judy" Subject: Re: USS Texas 1/350 Check out Commanderseries.com - 1/350 Texas resin full hull kit. K., I guess I should not have appended my question about the U. S. S. ARIZONA's current legal status onto my uninteresting Roll Call bio recently, for I received only one direct reply about the ARIZONA, and none were posted on SMML. I thought you guys would be all over me like daylight when I suggested that ARIZONA is no longer considered a commissioned vessel of the Navy. C'mon, SMML, please let us hear your opinion on this matter. Franklyn ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 9) From: "Tom Detweiler" Subject: Re: Roll Call Hello to all SMMLies-- A couple things, a belated Roll Call for me, Tom Detweiler, 54 yrs and "retired" in January (laid off, after 30 years working in US electronics manufacturing!); have built plastic models since boyhood. Was in USN during 68-71, two Wespac cruises to Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club basin aboard a tin can, Gearing Fram-II DD-806, Radar picket, plane guarding, carrier escort antisubmarine, and way too much nighttime Naval Gun Fire Support which is why my ears don't work too well now-- dual 5"/38 mounts going off all the time showed up later in life. On bench is a wanna-be JSP Gearing FRAM2 in 1/700; it is stalled because I discovered it is too damn SMALL for me to work on anymore relative to eye/hand coordination. So I guess it will be 1/350 or larger scales if something can be found. Have been to Rajen's List tonight and read it all, no 1/350 Gearing FRams are there that I could see, do any of you know if one is even available? I have the MB/BWN 1/350 "Gearing" but it is a late war pre-Fram version. Is that kit all there is? Thanks to all, again... TD ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10) From: "Michiel Woort" Subject: Kriegsmarine Colour My dad just bought some 35 scale german coastal subs at Telford. In the instructions the hull colour is mentioned as Seegrau Dunkel. I also checked mine HP models (Seehund and biber) and there is the colour also called Dunkel Seegrau. I did not find this colour in the Anstriche book and it isn't in the WEM range. Does anybody know which Humbrol, Revell or RAL number must be used or comes close. Greetings, Michiel Woort ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11) From: "Franz Aigner GmbH" Subject: Opinions about "Master and Commander"? I have been out of internet reach for a few weeks, so please be patient with me if you beat this topic to death recently.
