Must point out an interest, I have known Derek Hansen for are while, and I designed the decal sheet for this kit, but I have no financial interest! It makes up unto a very impressive model, as do all the others in the Accurate Armour range. Have a look at the LCTs just about to be released! I have been able to find a photo online and some history but no source as yet for drawings or plans. << David, The Maryland Silver Mining Company comes to mind. But I believe they carry ship plans for the U.S. ships and not Spanish. I do not recall if there was a designation for the right or the left shoulder. << Those stripes designated the port and starboard watch sections aboard ship. See the first sentence in the following excerpt from the uniform FAQ at the Naval Historical Center web site "The uniform regulations of 25 January 1913 changed the location of rating badges so that ratings badges were no longer worn on the sleeves corresponding to assigned watches. Right arm rates were to signify men of the Seamen Branch; left arm rates were to be used by personnel of the Artificer Branch, Engine Room Force, and all other petty officers. The eagle continued to face left on all rating badges. The uniform regulations of 31 May 1941 specified that the eagle was to face to the left in the rates comprising the Seaman Branch Boatswain Mate, Turret Captain, Signalman, Gunner's Mate, Fire Controlman, Quartermaster, Mineman and Torpedoman's Mate. All other rating badges were to have an eagle facing to the right. Right arm rates were disestablished 2 April 1949, after having been eliminated by Change #1, dated 24 February 1948, to the 1947 uniform regulations. All rating badges were to be worn on the left sleeve with the eagle facing to the right." The port and starboard watch stripes were probably abolished early in WW2. Court Street, Crown Point, Indiana -- Saturday January 10, 2004 from 900 am to 300 pm. << Herr Rzonca has previously attended the military collector show in Indianapolis. He is quite interesting to talk to. His background is that he was a compressed air systems technician. His job on the BISMARCK involved maintenance of the aircraft catapult system. Previously he was assigned to the light cruiser KARLSRUHE and survived her sinking; he believes he may be the last living crewman of that ship. From my research I understand she had the following aircraft on board 802 NAS with Sea Gladiators (9) 825 NAS with Swordfish (9) a flight from 701 NAS with Walrus (2?) 263 Sqn RAF with Gladiators (10) 46 Sqn RAF with Hurricanes (7) I have attempted to research what camouflage schemes these aircraft were wearing, if any in case of the naval aircraft at that early stage of the war, but have come up with a blank. I assume the RAF aircraft which had been deployed ashore in Norway probably had a local scheme including white but can find no photographs from that period to prove / disprove this. Can anyone shed some light on this topic or point me in the right direction? Many thanks John Sutherland ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- TRADERS, ANNOUNCEMENTS & NOTICEBOARD ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) From SeaPhoto@aol.com Subject SeaPhoto new address Hello Everyone, Just wanted to let you know that I have finished moving -----whew! ---- and that SeaPhoto has a new albeit temporary address SeaPhoto 17877 Alexandra Way Grass Valley, CA 95949 This address will be good for about 6 months or so, and then I will have another, permament address in this area.
