I came to Pit Road's website. The kit has a price, I can't tell for sure if they actually sell it. I hope this helps. http//www5b.biglobe.ne.jp/~pitroad/index.html MM Hello Aleck and Ron!! As far as I know, Pit Road only sell their products directly to japanese costumers. You could try one of this www.hlj.com www.rainbowten.co.jp ...but I think it will be difficult to find the model, since it was released in 2002,and they only make them in small numbers. I have one, and I can only say excellent things about this exquisite subject. On a desperate measure, you could contact directly Pit Road, through the email on the bottom of the page... Also in 1/35 scale there is one from the (now) gonne italian firm FF-Models (actualy, it was their only release, but they planned a Caproni CA Midget Sub and a MTSM, also in 1/35). (I don't have any comercial interests in the above mentioned Brands or Online Model Shops) From Lisbon, Portugal, Rui Matos (aka Skipper) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From RDChesneau@aol.com Subject Re Revell QM2 - 1/350 or 1/400? Speculation only It could be that 1/350 is out of the question because of tooling demands. If my maths is on song, at 1/400 scale the length o.a. would be 33.9in give or take, whereas at 1/350 scale it would be roughly 38.75in. That may be too long for Revell's current tooling facilities, and I doubt whether any manufacturer would invest in new injection moulding equipment merely for one kit. These same considerations precisely explain why the Revell (née Matchbox) 1/72 'Flower' class corvette kit had its hull broken down into sections rather than being moulded in the conventional manner. Roger www.rogerchesneau.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From Ned Barnett Subject CSS Hunley I've got the 1/35th CSS Hunley on order, and I'm looking for up-to-date references (as well as any articles on building tips). Any suggestions will be most welcome. The scale suggests an interesting dockside diorama, so references on ground cradles would also prove interesting. I've got a large number of books on submarines (and a growing collection of books on the American Civil War) but they give short shrift to the Hunley (a few words, a poor sketch). Anyway, ideas, suggestions, references all welcome. Thanks Ned Barnett (who's just set up his workshop again after a brief six-year hiatus) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From Ned Barnett Subject a mild brag I'm heading to LA this morning to be interviewed on the History Channel tomorrow - did this last month, too. Last month it was D-Day technology (including landing craft) and today it's on World War I tech (including submarines). Pity there's no money in this, but at least it keeps me off the streets and out of the pool halls. The D-Day tech program will be part of a solid block of D-Day programs in early June - I have no idea when the WW-I program will run. Ned Barnett ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From David Gregory Subject Re Italian CB midget submarine I do one in 1/600. It is SMALL SMALL SMALL! Weird little craft, though. Dave G. How are the kits packaged have the plans been improved that was always a weakness of the Bluewater stuff. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) From "David Griffith" Subject Calling Kerry Jang Dear Kerry, I hope you're still reading the postings. About a year ago you either emailed me directly or put some postings on this list about your use of nichrome wire for rigging models. I'm toying with the idea of giving it a go myself, (main problem is how do I explain to the wife why I've spent £100 on a couple of tiny rolls of wire, and avoid the divorce courts at the same time!!) Can you give me some guidance on the techniques you use, cutting, straightening, handling, fixing and colouring. Oh yes, and how do you explain it to your wife? Regards David Griffith ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- TRADERS, ANNOUNCEMENTS & NOTICEBOARD ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) From "rustywhite" Subject New "How To" modeling CD from Flagship Models Just finished the latest "How To" modeling CD from Flagship Models. It's called "Building Resin Ships" and is written in the much the same style as all my articles in FSM. The CD is 8 pages long and contains lots of hints, tips, and techniques on building multi-media ship models. If you're interested in this great new CD, the price is $9.95 (shipping included). You may pay with your credit card via Pay Pal or order direct. It's not on the web site yet, so if you want more information contact me off board and I'll send you a PDF file.
