In most hobby shops you have to walk past the railroad stuff to get back into the dusty corner where the ship supplies are, so you have probably seen what I am talking about. They generally have prepainted and packaged sets of various subjects such as workmen in action poses. Have a look. Ask a clerk to let you look at the Walthers "O" gauge catalog. They have color pictures of everything available in that segment of the hobby. Prieser makes the most complete line of figures, but there are literally dozens to choose from. The shop will gladly order anything they don't stock. Gary But be careful and keep moving, I have heard that the hibernating politicians have finally awakened and are nosing about, looking for innocent taxpayers to help restore the fat they lost over the winter. G ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From JRKutina@webtv.net (John Kutina) Subject LST I made a waterline LST in 1/160 scale from Burtindustries [now defunct] in Florida. I had to replace all the guns, gun tubs and many other deck fittings. I had the full hull milled down to make it waterline. It is not quite finished but it is reasonably acceptable now. I would like to see your photo of your LST. Regards, John Kutina ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From JRKutina@webtv.net (John Kutina) Subject Re Casting Leslie, Re casting --- perhaps you might be interested in a faster and easier way to make duplicate parts. I use " Smooth-on " plastic castings at Easton, PA. phone 610-252-5800 e-mail smoothon@smooth-on.com contact Brad They make an excellent product. The base mold is rubber. It is an easy 50/50 mix. The plastic is also a 50/50 mix. The results are very good. The rubber mold picks up all details well and can be used many times and then stored for future use. They have distributors in many areas. Call them for your nearest one. I live in the Seattle area and my distributor is in Walla Walla, WA Message me if you need ay more info. Today we honour all our servicemen past & present. "They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn; At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, We will remember them" "LEST WE FORGET" << Thanks for this, S&L - I think that the men who landed there (regardless of the absurdity of their leaders) are heroes who deserve to be remembered with honor, wherever men and women gather to recall those who died that we might enjoy our own freedom. My father and uncle both served in the Pacific, fighting for our shared freedom - my dad's light cruiser was attacked by four kamikazes and a sub (and survived them all); my uncle apparently went unscathed in the Pacific (though he survived a successful Stuka attack on his ammunition ship in the Med - and bears the scars to this day). Dad often talked about the Australians he met while on leave - and about the time he convinced (along with the assistance of significant Fosters) some of them that if the last letter of the alphabet is "Zed" then the country should be New Zedland ...
