Usually when I post here, the comment is more the order of "Battleships!", since I find those amusingly useless. (yes, I have asbestos underwear). Those places I have a true .sig, I like "Nuke 'em from orbit, it's the only way to be sure"... Allan "battlecruisers are even more amusingly useless" Plumb ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From Sab1156@aol.com Subject 1/700 Bismarck & Tirpitz Hi,Greetings to all of you! Can sombody tell me,when the 1/700 scale Bismarck & Tirpitz from Trumpeter will be available? Are this two models new designs or just the remakes of the old and bad ones from Aoshima? Best Regards Detlef Hartwig ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From Randy Ward Subject Re Need help? From CVRC78@webtv.net (Tim Carrier) >> gentlemen I am in the process of building a model of the new cvx class aircraft carrier, and what I am looking for is a large block of Styrofoam(18"x24"x8') or a two part foam that is to be mixed then poured into a mold. any information would be greatly appreciated. << Tim, if you're in the US, probably your easiest source of supply is to buy 4'x8' foam insulation board from your local home improvement store, then cut them, as needed. One cut down the middle gives you your 24"x 8'. You can "glue" layers together with many of the good adhesives on the market. Check with the store for what is safe to use on foam. Cap'n Randy ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From Ned Barnett Subject Re Need help? Tim I was just reading in a model railroading magazine last night (oddly enough) about how to laminate styrofoam in order to make it sufficiently sturdy to support a railroad layout. You can buy sheets of Du Pont "EXTRUDED" (not "EXPANDED" - also known as beaded, it's not sturdy enough) 2' x 4' (2" thick) - they also come in larger sheets - and laminate them with either Liquid Nails (product name) or with Hot Glue - and the company Woodland Scenics makes a low-temp hot glue that's ideal for bonding sheets of extruded styrofoam. In this way, you can make a sheet of styrofoam to meet your specs, and can then cut it with a hot-knife (or heated styrofoam cutter) or a hacksaw (dusty, but effective) and can shape it with rasps and files and such. Good luck. Ned ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From "Agustin Tirona" Subject Modern Soviet/Russian Navy red color - help please Greetings, Sorry if this has been asked before (just re-subscribed SMML). I'm building a Kirov and a Kiev, and I want to know what's the "proper" shade of red used on the decks of the Soviet/Russian Navy's warships. Also, does anyone have Model Ship Builder magazine (?) issue No. 24? The one with a line drawing of the Blue Marlin? Thanks ) Agustin ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From GUSDOCVILL@aol.com Subject NIMITZ CVN variants CD Ray, May I impose upon to PLEASE put me down of the set of your CDs?
