When you paint the waterline colour all the seepage cracks are filled so you end up with a clean straight line. << You could simply use gloss clear to seal the tape....same result one less paint step. This is an old flying model airplane painting trick for clean color edges. Simon Scheuer ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From Roland Mar Subject Re Putative CV in Chicago, and hobby shops Thanks for the answers. I intend to yank my Captain's chain rather firmly about a) memory or the lack thereof, and b) navigational ability or lack thereof [i.e. "We'll follow you anywhere, sir; or at least when we follow you that is where we are likely to end up!"] Roland Mar ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From "Paul R. Mitchell" Subject Re Plastic Gears >> Is there a source for plastic gears. The gear-tooth size should match the motors' used in motorized cars. I haven't been able to get suitable gears from toy cars and I need lots of them anyway.. << Have you tried Northwest Short Line ( http//www.nwsl.com/ ). They make gears used by model railroaders. Cheers, Paul ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From "Robert P. Mattis" Subject 1.1 inch and 20 mm gun painting I am looking for information concerning the painting of 1.1 inch and 20 mm guns on WW 2 ships. Since most photos are black and white it seems from them that in most cases the guns were painted the color of the camouflage used on the rest of the ship. Was this the case? Bob Mattis President Mallard Lambert, Inc ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From "David Judy" Subject Re Noah's ark The construction of the Ark and it's dimensions are laid out in the Bible, though there are two definitions of the "cubit" one about 16" and the other about 20" both make a ship of enormous dimension. As for "gopher wood" I believe the translation is more closely "Kopher" ( pitched) wood. (reference for this comment is at - Answersingenesis.com ) If one were to look at a model of the Ark built to the Biblical dims. then it would be obvious as to the stability of the proportions. Take a look at a 4x6 of proper length in a pool, then by making waves......try to capsize it! As for wildly optimistic and too big to be practical, have these British TV people ever seen a Nimitz class carrier?? Keep in mind ........Noah didn't build this thing overnite! and God designed it! I for one would rather believe God over some TV documentary makers! In Christ Dave Judy ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From "Tom Detweiler" Subject Great site Hi SMMlies-- The Kim Komando radio show led me to this US Navy website http//www.news.navy.mil/view_galleries.asp This is like a JackPot site-- literally thousands of high quality digital images of every conceivable vessel, activity, all classes of ships.
