I'm pretty sure the turret top is jet black. Any ideas on the color of the funnel bands? << Try this http//german-navy.tripod.com/sms_paint.htm Best regards, Maxim Markov ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From John Snyder Subject Re SMS Deutchland funnel bands Hi Marc, I seriously doubt the turret tops were jet black. If you'll look at your photo and compare the turret tops to the openings at the base of the guns, you'll see that the turret tops are lighter than the dark openings. I'd bet they are a dark gray, probably similar to the Dunkelgrau 2 used by the Kriegsmarine 20 years later. As for the funnel bands, if you've checked out the link I posted for you on Steel Navy, I'd bet on yellow (based on my knowledge of how colors were rendered on orthochromatic/blue-sensitive films). Address Au 16ème" escadron 136 avenue de l'armée, B-1040 Bruxelles ( Belgique ) Tél + Fax (0032)02.733.85.60 Open between 1000 and 1300 and 1400 and 1800, closed on sundays and mondays And Point Cinquante (point 50), I believe in the neighboorhood of the stock exchange (Bourse). Apparently they have a huge selection on (older) kits. 50 boulevard Maurice Lemonnier, 1000 Bruxelles Tél 02/411.76.56 Right across the street of the 16th sqn is an, at first glance, plain boookshop. But appearances deceive, because they probably have the second largest selection on military books in Belgium. Prices are high though and all books are wrapped in cellofane, so for a look through a book, you'll have to ask the owner. Not far from there is the Royal Army Museum, not much on maritime and naval matters, but a big collection of WW1 stuff. It is right in the Cinquantenaire Parc. They have also a bookshop with accasionally nice books. Entrance is free. http//www.klm-mra.be/ Going in the direction of Gent, you'll pass Erpe-Mere, home of De Krijger, Belgium largest bookshop on military stuff and really a must! Address Dorpstraat, 44 Erpe http//www.proximedia.com/web/de-krijger.html Antwerp has a nice Maritime Museum and a couple of model shops (Verschooten, eiermarkt 31a, and Baillien, Turnhoutsebaan 219, Borgerhout, both closed on tuesdays and sundays) and being a harbour some 'antique' maritime shops. http//museum.antwerpen.be/scheepvaartmuseum/index_eng.html HTH Erwin ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From "Mor" <54mor@012.net.il> Subject BB-63 drawings BB-63 drawings can be downloaded from http//www.ussmissouri.com/discover.aspx look for the title "schematics", it is a 7.45 mb in PDF format.
