I have waterline drawings in model boats for July 1978 covering the Flag ships at TSU-SHIMA. If you want a copy get back to me George Peat ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From Ken LeClair Subject HMCS Tecumseh Mystery Gun Hello All, in 1975 to 1977, I was a Sea Cadet at HMCS Tecumseh in Calgary Alberta Canada, till I moved in 1977 to Nova Scotia. I remember in the drill hall at Tecumseh there was a large twin gun mount in the southeast corner of the hall. I presumed it came from some destroyer and that it was destroyed in the fire that burnt the hall to the ground in the late seventies. So, my question to any SMML's participants is where doid this gun turret originate from, and was it destroyed in the fire??? Cheers, Ken LeClair HMCS Protecteur Victoria, BC ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From JRKutina@webtv.net (John Kutina) Subject Report JFK's sunken patrol boat found - May 29, 2002 http//www.cnn.com/2002/ALLPOLITICS/05/29/kennedy.boat/index.html Regards, John Kutina ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From Ned Barnett Subject Submarine Disasters - Need Info, Input Good morning I'm working with History Channel on an upcoming program on Submarine Disasters (those subs which sank, or almost sank, but not due to enemy activity); and I'm contacting you good folks here for some ideas on references pointing to such disasters. Books, web-links, possible interview subjects (men who've survived such disasters and are still around), etc. We'll go back at least as far as the Hunley, and come forward at least as far as Kursk. Those, and anything in between, are fair game. Certainly the Squalus is well-documented, but what about the Thresher and the other nuclear disasters? How about subs from minor or emerging powers - stuff that wouldn't make the headlines except, maybe, in their home countries? Any help, any leads, any links would be welcome. Thanks Ned ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From "Mitsuaki Kubota" Subject Re HIJMS Mikasa Hi James, I have some books contains Mikasa drawings. They are Internal profile and deck plans (as built, approximately 1/300) Appeared on "Plans of Ships of the Imperial Japanese Navy, Ship Building History in Showa-Era", Hara Shobo, 1975. I think these drawings are photocopies of original Vickers drawings. Profile and weather deck plan (as built, approximately 1/488, with fore and main mast drawing of 1905), body plans (as built, approximately 1/313) Appeared on "Japanese Battleships", Grand-Prix Publication, 2001. As far as I know, they are all which can be easily found in Japan in printed form. I had visit Mikasa several times, but regrettably ship's gift shop didn't sell any drawings. Also I'm sorry I don't know MIKASA Preservation Society accept your order for drawings. But I note address to MIKASA Preservation Society for your information. 82-19, Inaoka-Cho, Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, 238-0003 Japan If you like photocopies from books mentioned above, I will arrange to send them. Hope these helps, Best regards, Mitsuaki Kubota ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out the SMML site for the List Rules, Backissues, Member's models & reference pictures at http//smmlonline.com Check out the APMA site for an index of ship articles in the Reference section at http//apma.org.au/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- End of Volume
