I have built a 196 scale Type 23. HMS Norfolk and want either a transfer of the crest for the funnel or at least good art work that I could copy into PhotoShop and print from. thanks in advance, Graeme Martin ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From Lars Scharff Subject Email-address of Delphis Models or Baby's Store Modellismo Hi Mirko, info@babystoremodellismo.com is not functional ('Undeliverable mail'). Do you have any other address? I am also not able to find their current homepage, only not-functional links. Best regards Lars Scharff ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From Fkbrown90@aol.com Subject PT boat names To Will Day Thanks for your response. Did PT 109 have a sobriquet? You mentioned drawings on some of the chart houses. Whereas these were naval vessels, I'm sure the drawings were not of the provocative theme so common on the B 17 and the B 24 heavy bombers of the Army Air Corps. Right? Franklyn ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From BGMarshall@aol.com Subject Names of Small Vessels in the US Navy Franklyn As you pointed out, the US Navy has numbers for their smaller vessels. Generally, those vessels are either placed in service or are considered floating equipment. The designation is more a legal and administrative issue. As an example, for a vessel placed in service, the CNO (or his office) would have to give permission for that vessel to be modified or moved to a new location. On the other hand, floating equipment is treated like an automobile or air compressor and can be moved around or modified without the red tape. The overall issue is always money and who controlls and/or pays for what. If a small vessel has a name, it is usually an unofficial name or one applied as a utility to its use at any particular installation or command. For example, NSWC Dahlgren in Virginia has two former Mk III (I think) patrol craft as range boats, complete with their small boat number. The base personnel have named both craft for their purposes. The designation USS or United States Ship belongs strickly to commissioned vessels of the United States Navy. During World War Two, PT boats were placed in service and assigned to commissioned squadrons. Aircraft, with their tail numbers, go through much the same administrative process. Chip Marshall Silver Spring, Maryland USA ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From David Gregory Subject Re PT Boat names A faily long list of PT boat names can be found in the back of Frank Johnsons Book "US PT Boats in World War II". This gives the names by hull number, including where boats had several names as the crews rotated. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From "dengar" Subject Russian River Gunboat Hi Guys, Just found a great book with plans and photographs at a good price, see this site. http//www.armybook.com/summary.html?code=0102002h49 Cheers Gary ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) From Russo Joseph S TSgt 439 OSS/IN Subject 1/72 VIIC update Been gone overseas a lot.
