I understand it was painted overall Cavite Blue and that there is conjecture about the deck color. What is the consensus on the Houston's camouflage and markings at the time of her loss? Help is much appreciated. Cameron Lynch ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From "Cameron Lynch" Subject Shipcamouflage.com Status? Has this website ceased to exist? I certainly hope not as I found it particularly useful. Cameron ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From Roland Mar Subject Something hard to fit on the modelling bench Here is an opportunity for 11 modelers. I seem to remember there was some interest in this subject from some East Coast members recently. Taken from Jim Dunnigan's STRATEGY PAGE >> SURFACE WARSHIPS World War II PT Boat For Sale, With Weapons August 10, 2004 The last World War II PT boat, fully equipped in wartime configuration, is up for sale. PT-728 was one of 800 PT (Patrol Torpedo) boats the United States built during World War II. This one was produced in 1945, and never saw combat. After the war, it spent several decades serving as a fishing boat in Canada. Bought by an American collector in 1994, PT-728 was returned to its wartime state. However, the twin .50 caliber machine-guns and 20mm cannon are not functional, and the four Mark VIII torpedoes are dummies. But at a glance, the 72 foot boat looks like a World War II photo come to life. The owner, Bill Bohmfalk, is auctioning it off on eBay. Floor bid is $500,000. << Roland Mar ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out the SMML site for the List Rules, Backissues, Member's models & reference pictures at http//smmlonline.com Check out the APMA site for an index of ship articles in the Reference section at http//apma.org.au/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- End of Volume
