In fact, I was unaware of the Fujimi 1/700 kits. I'm currently compiling Version 6.4, so if you're interested in reviewing any/all of these kits, please let me know. If you post a direct response to Loren's question on SMML, I'd appreciate it if you'd contact me off-list, and let me know if it's OK to use your comments on Rajen's List. "There seems to be something wrong | David R. Wells with our bloody ships today" | Adm. D. Beatty, May 31, 1916 | http//home.att.net/~WellsBrothers/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From "Melvin Burmaster" Subject Re Yamato/Musashi I’ve seen the listing of the “Nichimo 1/700th” Yamato/Musashi but the only Nichimo even close that I ran across was that of Musashi/Yamato in something approximately 1/750th. There are the 30cm models, but that, too, is off base. Since I usually buy up the Nichimo 30cm for extra parts and conversions, around $7.00 a pop, I’m justifyingly loathe to spend $21.50 on the ships claimed to be “1/700” Yamato/Musashi. The ~1/750th was a nice buy for the money but not what I suspect you are looking for detail wise. If anyone can set the facts straight on these kits, by all means, I’m all eyes! MJBurmaster ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From "Ken Goldman" Subject RN life jackets Anyone know the correct WWII color of RN life jackets? This is for a figure in the open hatchway of an X-Craft. Ken Goldman ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From Ned Barnett Subject Swift Boat Anybody know where I can get a model of the Swift Boat? I used to have one, by Monogram, but sold it years ago. Now it's hot in the news and I could use it as a prop for some TV interviews I've been giving on the election controversy (you know, my History Channel connections and such). Thanks Ned Hi all, My apologies here for putting on the "hob nailed boots" here before any posts come in, but could we restrict answers here to finding the model and NOT the current controversy surrounding it. Thanks, Shane ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From Subject HMS Exeter 1942 Could anyone tell me the camo scheme HMS Exeter was wearing at the time of the Java Sea action of 1942,likewise HMS Jupiter. Much obliged Chris ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From WRPRESSINC@aol.com Subject Re WW1 camouflage on WW11 destroyer Since posting my request to see the photo in question, I have been sent said photo, of which I already had a print. The ship HAS to be one of the 'A' class because- Only ships of the 'A' class had all of the following, i short mainmast * ii bowl shaped searchlight platform between the torpedo tubes iii sweep gear on the quarterdeck iv narrow working area around the bridge rangefinder v bridge wings flush to front face of bridge The only exception to the above was the Acheron which had a tall mainmast, flat sided funnels and a prominent projection from the bridge face. * Only ships of the 'A' class had the short mainmast. All other classes had the tall mainmast. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) From HARRY GILDAY Subject motorizing the bismarck i am building the tamiya 1/350 bismarck, and i want to motorize it. is there a motorizing kit that i can purchase to accomplish this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out the SMML site for the List Rules, Backissues, Member's models & reference pictures at http//smmlonline.com Check out the APMA site for an index of ship articles in the Reference section at http//apma.org.au/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- End of Volume
