I was aboard a few times last week and they were closing down early because of a number of odd jobs that have to be done throughout the ship and on the upper decks before bad weather sets in. Mostly cosmetic it seems, but some things that weren't done in her refit. Tom Dean Hamilton, Ontario Canada ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From Patrick Hough Subject enlarging scale ship plans on a copier I have a set of 1/600 scale ship plans and need to enlarge them to 1/350 scale. Anybody know the proper procedure, mathmatical formula, etc., for this? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From "johnny.geldhof17" Subject Re 1/72 Crew figures There exist U-boat crews on 1/72 scale Czech Master's Kits have many crews, which can be changed into naval crew. They have many u-boat crew. Hecker & Goros have also many u-boat crew. Perhaps you can contact Revell and perhaps they eventually make a naval crew. I did already send them several mails. The more we contact them, the more chance we have, they will make crews.... Greetings, Johnny Geldhof http//royalnavysectionbelge.navy.be/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) From JRKutina@webtv.net (John Kutina) Subject U-166 A Photographic Record Re sunken sub debris found recently in the Gulf of Mexico near the US ship it sank. It in turn was sunk by US PC 566. Up to this discovery, the crew of PC 566 was not aware that they had sunk the sub -- it still counts as a victory. http//www.pastfoundation.org/U166/U-166.htm Regards, John Kutina ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From Mark McKellar Subject Otaki 1/144 CVN-65 Enterprise Carrier I caught that too.....any of our number crunchers come up with measurements for a kit that scale? Of course, I'd NEVER finish anything that big...I struggle to find time to finish 1/700 kits. Mark Boston ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) From M Brown Subject Re Westland Wasp Sorry Mike but that Wasp was never bright green, I fell for that comment until I spoke to one of the curators at the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton when trying to find out the colour. It was jungly green ie British Standard BS381C 220 Olive Green. The same colour the army & navy etc. use for their assault/troop carrying choppers. How did he know, easy he was her pilot on Bulwark! There were 2 Wasps painted that colour on board. The confusion seems to come from the old Whirwind which in the UK was emerald green and apparently a Wessex was at one stage that colour. Used as an Admirals Barge. They also had a two seat Hunter in that colour, admirals for the use of! Xtracolour do Olive Green in their range of paints. Michael Brown ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) From BARRY FLEET Subject Re Wasp I don't know what that colour you quoted is but when I served in the RN in the 70's the Wasps on the frigates that I was on were Dark Navy Blue. Barry ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8) From "Rui Francisco Matos" Subject Diorama Solutions? Hi Shane and Lorna! I have ordered (and paid for) an item produced by Diorama Solutions – the resin dry dock for Revell 1/72 scale Type VII-C U-boot. Since May I haven’t receive nothing and I tried to contact the persons, with no success… Also their website isn’t online anymore… Do you know anything about Diorama Solutions?? Can anyone say something about them or is it just me? Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me some light on this issue… Best Regards from Lisbon – Portugal, Rui Matos (aka Skipper) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 9) From "KOSTAS ORNERAKIS" Subject Re 1/72 naval crew figures Hello, Try the following http//www.hecker-goros.de/html/1_72.html http//www.andrea-miniatures.com/market/AspsProductos/listado.asp?IdColeccion=119 Also have in mind that Czesh master kits (CMK) produses 72116, 72117, 72118 and also plans some future releases.
