Possibly not everyone's first choice, I'd like one of the "Strath" liners that P & O ran from England to Australia in any scale. There's a vote in the background for the "poofter chook" though ;-) << I can't say I much care for the lines of the QM2, but I don't like any of the modern leviathans. In fact I would love to see some of the small Royal Mail steamers or subjects like the Waratah ( a bad luck ship for sure, but look at the Titanic mania) or even some of the coasters. For modern ships, I like the appearance of the small boutique ships such as the Sea Goddess (now SeaDream), and the old R-1 through R-8 yacht cruisers. . For a mid-sized ship, none has a better appearance than the Vistafjiord of 1973, latterly k/a Caronia. Still not too mammoth at some 625 feet overall. These all should be modeled in 1/200 scale or 1/400 at the smallest. This way it would be possible to include sufficient detail and yet have room for them on the shelf or desk top of the average office or den. In the cargo category, what about a single hatch raised quarterdeck steam coaster? I know that Billings or one of the other R/C model makers has Talacre and some others but would like to see a good plastic kit of one of them in say, 1/100 scale. I believe that the Russian re-issue of the old Frog "Shell Welder" was the last small merchant ship kit available. Jim Bloom ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From HARRY GILDAY Subject trumpeter 1/144 scale seawolf submarine I understand that in oct or nov , trumpeter is coming out with a 1/144 scale model of the uss seawolf submarine SSN 21. the model should be about 29" lg x 5" wide x 6' high .i have preordered one and i would like to know if any one could suggest a good way to make it radio control, any suggestions would be appreciated. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From GUSDOCVILL@aol.com Subject ID Weapons Does anyone have the instructions sheets for the Skywave/PitRoad USN and Soviet Modern Ship Equipment sets? I have "tons" of extra parts and have no idea what on earth they are and no means of identifying them. I finally have a 60 drawer plastic cabinet and I am attempting to separate all the different weapons systems into their own drawer. Sincerely would appreciate any and all assistance in ID'ing all these different weapons and extras. Thanks in advance. Gus Semper Fi ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- TRADERS, ANNOUNCEMENTS & NOTICEBOARD ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) From Ron Subject marketplace listing Hey guys, due to several recent crapalanches I've just typed a list of 209 kits (most with aftermarket packaged with the kit, I do not want to break up package deals), air, armor, figures and ships. I'll be typing the loose aftermarket stuff up tonight and will e-mail a copy in .xls format to anyone interested, contact me by e-mail. Right up front, payment via US Postal money order or Western Union ONLY. Shipping will be via US Priority Mail within the US and Parcel Post Air for international (some things like decals or PE only can go first class mail). I pay for delivery confirmation, insurance is extra. Shipping and Insurance at approximate cost (rounded to the nearest dollar)....you must request insurance. I will entertain swaps (but keep in mind this is maybe 10% of my collection so finding something I want won't be easy) and for international buyers credit at some international hobby vendors. First come, first served if you want a kit or kits. Unless otherwise arranged for when asking for a kit, payment is due within 14 calendar days (I'll relist it after that). I will ship two days each week (probably Tues. and Fri.), if I have your money by the ship days your kit will ship. I will send e-mail when it ships.
